I like their tone a lot more with the Mesa Boogies.

I was thinking the same thing, to be honest with you! The tone was fatter and bigger sounding with their Mesa Boogie Road Kings. Now, it seems they are so concerned with incorporating three guitarists in the mix that their new amp choices really thin out their tone. They seem to be using less gain as well. Personally, they should've just went Road King, Stiletto, and Mark V. This isn't because I'm a Mesa fanboy or anything, but since their Road King tones were so great, they should've just added the other Mesa's to better fill out the mix.

For me, ideally, they would have one guy with a BIG Mesa tone, one with a Marshall tone and Dave with the Tonemasters. Glorious.

Why would you ever use three Mesa's? Redundant.

Have you ever listened to a Dual Rec and a Stiletto together? They sit at complete opposites of the mix. Then there is the Mark V, which sits more in the middle, and is tighter. I've never heard a Mark V and a Stiletto together, but based on what I've heard with the others mixed, I can imagine the mix would be glorious.

Why wouldn't you put three Mesa's together?
:jedi: :force:

They've always experimented with other amps. (Various Fenders, AC30s, Savage, etc)

Not gear related but-I really enjoyed that. Thanks for posting

Foo Fighters any time of the day man, they absolutely rock in every shape or form.

Nine to see them tracking old school with the whole band approach.. I took particular interest in what looks to be banners hanging in the background. I'm assuming those a re large bass traps or duvets stuffed with fiberglass for acoustic dampening? Anybody know? I'm currently renovating my basement to create one large tracking / mixing room so this i find somewhat interesting..

Awesome!! Such a great rock band. I actually like their tone quite a bit better now, that Hiwatt sounds huge and is just pure raw power!

Saw this in theaters in 3D. It was incredible.

Taylor Hawkins is a BEAST on the drums.

I know not everyone here loves the foo fighters, but damn - there aren't a lot of bands these days that can play an album cover to cover THAT well. No backing tracks. No computers. No BS. Pretty incredible.

Jerry, I'm still confused about Dave's Hiwatt. His pedalboard has switching for the PT100's he's using, and the Fender Tonemasters. I'm starting to think the hiwatt is just for show?

un-pucker and enjoy good music instead of dissecting the gear.

I've watched this like three times already -- fucking love the Foos!

This man...... it's impressive :)

I believe the Hiwatt is actually being used by Pat Smear for his clean tones.

There are pictures online of Dave's new pedalboard (google it) and there is no switcher indicating him using a Hiwatt. Remember too, that 606 is the Foos recording studio, so they are able to use more equipment there that may not make it on tours. In the video, Shifflett is using a Fender '57 Twin and a Vox, but live I think he is only using the Vox's right now.
