Awesome!! Such a great rock band. I actually like their tone quite a bit better now, that Hiwatt sounds huge and is just pure raw power!

Jerry, I'm still confused about Dave's Hiwatt. His pedalboard has switching for the PT100's he's using, and the Fender Tonemasters. I'm starting to think the hiwatt is just for show?

Maybe so...I have no idea what his rig actually is? But whatever he's using sounds so open and massive! Now I'm wondering what he's actually using for that crunch tone, it's great.

I like their tone a lot more with the Mesa Boogies.

I was thinking the same thing, to be honest with you! The tone was fatter and bigger sounding with their Mesa Boogie Road Kings. Now, it seems they are so concerned with incorporating three guitarists in the mix that their new amp choices really thin out their tone. They seem to be using less gain as well. Personally, they should've just went Road King, Stiletto, and Mark V. This isn't because I'm a Mesa fanboy or anything, but since their Road King tones were so great, they should've just added the other Mesa's to better fill out the mix.

I think it's more an issue of Grohl and Shiflett chasing that "boutique" tone, which Grohl seems to have been into since Nothing Left to Lose. Their last good album was Colour and the Shape, and after that the tone started to change. They admitted in a Mesa interview that they don't even use the Mesas for the gain sounds in the studio (post Colour). Smear has been pretty consistent with the 5150, using it live now, during the Colour era, and on the later part of the first album tour if not all the way through. He at least seems to still appreciate that really thick and saturated tone.

I agree and don't miss their Mesa tone one bit.

I can appreciate their new live tone on a lot of songs, but for song's like "My Poor Brain," "Hey, Johnny Park," "Low," and "All My Life" I think Mesa's thick, saturated distorted tones really give the tracks a nice heaviness live.

Foo Fighters are a cool band. They definitely rock. Only problem is, after so long I start wondering if I haven't heard this song before as I think they write stuff that sounds a bit like the same thing over and over.

It looks like someone photoshopped the "Foo Fighters" logo off those tonemasters.  I noticed this is how they looked in the video...
