Whenever I see these deleted posts I just think the item was sketchy (i.e. someone is getting ripped off or has prvsly got ripped off).....otherwise why bury the evidence
I delete my adds when sold immediately out of respect for my buyer. If very few know what I sold, my buyer can relist it right away, if he chooses, without the preconception it must suck because he sold it so fast.xzyryabx":30gjoamj said:Fordman65":30gjoamj said:What was for sale?

Nah. Not at all. Sale was legit and buyer was happy with what was being sold and the price it was being sold for. Nothing sketchy or me trying to rip someone off. I was happy to fulfill someone’s dream of having a guitar he’s wanted for a very long time. Not burying evidence or trying to rip people off like you accuse me of doing. So I deleted a post. So what and who cares. What’s it too you? Nothing, so mind your own business and know the facts first before you accuse someone of something based solely on “assumption”.xzyryabx":3qxzddnj said:Fordman65":3qxzddnj said:What was for sale?

Usually updating the title to SOLD or replying to a thread w/ a SOLD message does the trick.
Are you telling me in your experience ppl responding to dead FS threads is a thing that justifies the whitewashing? That OPs just cannot resist to respond to dumb buyers that can't read?

When a seller with under 20 posts has a sale close in under a few hours for a high end guitar, the thread is whitewashed completely of ALL content, including descriptions, history, pics, etc. you're damn right that pops up a red flag for me.
I sometimes delete prices too for the buyers sake like Glip said, but leave the rest in tact.
Too much shady shit happens on these forums for folks to be OK with this....when something goes bad what do we always go back to? The original thread....buyer said the description and pics he saw showed a flawless guitar, guitar shows up dinged to hell, then what? Evidence now gone, he said-she said, buyer fucked.
So in summary, all y'all that completely whitewash threads are shady until proven otherwise (and many of you have proven otherwise so I'm not directing this to you of course.

And I ain’t whitewashing threads. You have no idea or any clue the kind of communication Ive had with the buyer to make sure everthing is legit with the sale. It’s just too bad that shady stuff happens in forums. I take precaution in these forums just like yourself in dealing with sales like this, not just here but everywhere. Yes there are a lot of shady and bad experiences but that’s the reality unfortunately. I’ve posted this same exact sale at other forums and marketplaces to reach out to more people that show interest in what I’m selling. If I choose to take the listing down once it sold, then so be it. It’s my listing, my gear, my money, and my investment. I don’t have to answer to anyone other than the person that is involved and interested in what I’m selling or buying.

I don't know you, I'm not asking you to answer to me, I frankly don't give a flying fuck about you, and I didn't call you a scammer.
I'm just saying that the general practice of whitewashing a FS thread is sketchy, and double-sketchy when someone new to the forum does it.
And let's not act like all naive like this strategy hasn't been used before to hide lemons, egregious flips, or worse.
