Fortin ampfest has screwed me up, volume content

Played for the first time since being beat to death by Fortins and Camerons and it fucking sucked plain and simple. The reason was volume, at the fest we had the amps just jacked up through 2 4x12s and it was godly. Power tubes pushing big air and notes just singing forever and last night I was at normal after hours volumes and it just sucked sucked sucked.


Fuck low volume playing in regards to tube amps, I dont care what anyone says nothing is like a tube amp being gunned no matter the master on it. It has to do with flat out air movement and power sections being pushed hard.

I have selective hearing. I can't hear my amps until my pant legs are flapping.

Funny you said that as pyschodave did the same thing by standing by the cab to judge the amount of air being pushed

For the 1:27 minutes that we played at low volumes they sounded great

I am sure I will get back to normal soon but man nothing beats a great amp being gunned

Slaving gets you most the way there....

Yeah but it is still not the same

Your favorite amp ever the MK IV sounds awesome running through the VHT 2/50/2 slaved

Ugghh....not much worse than heavy handed drummers and cymbals. Played with one guy that used Z Customs and had pairs of the same model.....that way he could hit two at the same time. Boy was he fun to jam with

Haha. This is a big reason why I have so many 4x12's. I almost always have 3 4x12's going at the same time. Not so much for volume, but for moving air. Then factor in "slaving" the amp and I am in heaven. I am contemplating making connectors so I can use 6 4x12's at one time.

I have a few clips of me slaving a Mark IV with a Marshall power amp running 6 cabinets.
