WTF is going on with Fortin amps ? I want to send in a Marshall to have modded and they say they don't do mods anymore, but they put up pics every day on Facebook of amps they JUST completed (modded Marshalls) for celebrity users...NOT COOL. :gethim: :gethim: :gethim:
 
Check out Dan Gower's work.
He is in the UK, but does a great Kali / Killer Kali mod, just like Fortin.

I believe the FB pics are him revisiting old projects and sharing the eye/ear candy. You also see the occasional NATAS build, which has also since been discontinued.
 
I'd love to go to Dan, but it's a bit pricey with international shipping...
 
And Mike commented "How could I say no to Dino ;)", so that implied (to me) that the work was recent. This would be Dino from Fear Factory...someone else asked if it was to replace the one he had that was stolen, which Mike did not answer.
 
I believe there are amps being back doored for famous players, and I understand that, but I don't have to like it...
 
There's no "they" in Fortin amps, it's just Mike. Mike is too busy to do mods for the general public.

Easy as that. Or wait for a used one to pop up. Remember, Fortin amps is just one guy with a full time(probably a huge understatement) job and family. Lots of people would love to have him mod their amp. I would love to have him do another mod for me. Exact same one too. But if he's not doing mods at this time, I understand(and I'm poor :lol: :LOL: ). If he does do one here or there, that's his choice.
 
His contract with Randall is self renewing for 10 years starting 2012, so 8 more to go I guess...Can someone describe Dan Gower's mods to me ? What is the difference between the Kali, Killer Kali, and the Killer Kali++ ?

The Killer Kali and KK++ are the same mod. The difference between the Cali and KK++ is an added 4th gain stage that is adjustable. SICK FUCKING AMP. Just ask OUTLAW and metalmaniac93
 
So Kali = Marshall with what?

Killer Kali = Killer Kali ++ ? So why the different names?

And the Killer Kali and Killer Kali ++ are the same as the Kali, but with an additional gain stage?

I'm still confused.

Dans mods are the shit.. really. So much better than anything else modded i'v tried. I currently own and totally dig his Jose mod, which is a absolute authentic copy of Mike Fortin's Jose Arredondo modded JMP. Mike liftet the blueprint from the amp and gave it to Dan. It sound so freakin good.

I totally love the KK++ also! It's a bit darker and bigger.. very tasteful mod. The best metal Marshall/rock out there.. period.
 
Yeah, I wrote mike about 3 or 4 yrs ago to get a Marshall modded and was told he was busy and to check back at summers end. I did check back continually every year since and am told he is to busy to tAke in any work. I understand but it still stinks. Dans work looks awesome as well but the shipping cost and risk make it iffy to me.
 
It may be more cost effective to have Dan find you an amp where he is mod it and sent back, unless the amp you have is unavailable to find now.

But looks like the KK++ gets a bit heavier. I'd love to know what a violence control is too. I wish amp builders would just call their controls what they actually are. Instead of saying "Doom Switch" just call it a variable NFB control. Instead of saying "Phantom Laser Knob" just call it an extra gain control, etc. Would make it a lot easier to understand what the amp is voiced for.
