I had my fortin for sale for so long, I started making clips and trying different clean boosts and speakers until, wa la, I found a perfect combination. Monster tones with unparalleled clarity

Why? You have one of the baddest amps on the market. Walks all over any Marshall, stock or modded, IMHO. So again, why? It's not like more gain stages can be added, like they do with marshalls that have little gain to start with, since the UL has a ton of gain.

You started out the thread actually making ridiculous accusals of Mike Fortin for not taking time out of his busy schedule to mod you an amp directly. Keep in mind, the amps he's finishing now has probaby been on a list for a looong while and secondly, Mike can fucking mod amps for whom he wants! Honestly do you think he takes great pleasure seeing his amps flipping owners in the classifieds as opposed to modding an amp for a serious musician who will use the amp for something that makes sense? Buy a splawn...

Mike and Dan are great guys... Obviously, if you make threats starting out like that, you won't get very far at all.

There's NOTHING ridiculous about it. There are pics of modded amps on my Facebook feed from him everyday. I asked him about it, specifically the Dino FF Marshall, and the response I got back was " How could I say no to Dino ;-)" , with the winky face at the end...THAT tells me that he's willing to do work for one for one " class" of people (pro level musicians), and not the common man. He replied to me when I asked about his response " I was just having fun" (about the wink), which leads me to believe he doesn't want to piss Randall off, which I get...but don't flaunt the shit in everyone's face either, I mean, come on...don't hold the carrot out there and not let anyone grab it. I have enormous respect for him and what he's done and the tones he gets, but I'm bummed I can't get one. That's all. But for people to come in here and tell me I shouldn't have expressed my opinion about it ? FUCK THAT.

Mike and Dino are friends, and I believe they have been for awhile. I think you are misreading the situation. You would do the same thing would you not? You have a friend who is a pro and he would like for you at whatever time constraint you have available to do a mod for him, would you tell him no beacuse someone you dont know at all also wants you to do a mod? Taking the situation and making it about the class of people involved is a dick move

I don't think it's too busy, despite what people here are saying...I think its his contract with Randall that prevents him from doing mod work, but apparently he can mod for famous folks...that's the rub for me. Whatever. I'll get a hold of Dan Gower and bite the bullet on the shipping to and from the UK.

The man's flat out the busiest motherfucker I've heard of in the industry. I don't even know how he does it all. Even if all you choose to acknowledge is his revision and complete revival of Randall amplification, (who honestly gave a flying fuck about them a few short years ago? I mean, really) that in itself is a massive feat and an utter time vampire to say the least. All while he's setting up the next wave of innovation, building a final batch of NATAS amps for Mod Squad and scouring the planet to find a means to build iron to his uncompromising standards while remaining cost effective (yet people wanna bitch about that, too..) Harassing the guy on FB and dragging him through shit on the web isn't gunna help your cause. How he's managed to bite his tongue on this thread is beyond me. Cut the man some slack.

But he CAN do it for a select few...whatever. I'm done. Dan Gower will be my next choice for a Marshall mod for sure. Already tried Friedman and that amp sucks. Digging my Camrons too, but looking for another flavor, that's all.

Thread's pretty crazy.

It's reasonable to assume that Mike does this work for, presumably, two basic reasons: one, he loves what he does. Two, because he—like everyone else on this site—is out to further his career. Both of those reasons are understandable. The guy has done a TON as a small start up and he's completely revived Randall on his upswing. That's no small feat.

If I want to order a custom 1,000,000 dollar Porsche and so does Jerry Seinfeld, who is Porsche going to sell it to? It's not going to be me. At the end of the day, Porsche has to consider who is better for the brand.

All of those photo's Mike posts on his FB site are mods from previous years, not new ones. He is on a hiatus from the last 3 years of work with Randall, which kept him on the road. He is catching up with family and getting ready to head back to China. He's not doing mod work on the side now - except for support of his modded amps that are out on the road.
