Sounds great! What are you using as the load?

Thanks man!

The load box is just a simple resistive load box that i built a while ago. It's just a hammond aluminium enclosure, with ten Arcol 40 ohm 25watt resistors hooked up in parallel. So it's 4 ohms and rated at around 250watts.

Very easy to build yourself if you're confident using a soldering iron and a drill!

Sounds fantastic Dan, tell me more about the Redwirez stuff, is it just a dummy load or what (never heard of them)
Your playing was awesome

Thanks Jim!!

Check out the Redwirez website, they explain it a lot better than i can :)

http://www.redwirez.com/

It's basically a software plug-in which works similar to a cabinet/speaker simulator. It also has various mics which you can choose, aswell as the mic placement too.

All you have to do is hook the amp to a dummy load, and then take a line out signal from the amp and feed it into a mic pre/interface. Then apply the Redwirez plug-ins on your recording software and you're good to go!

It sounds pretty good for a simple resistive load. No tone shaping components or anything? How are you doing your line out?

Just a bog standard resistive load :)

The raw Lineout signal sounds nothing like what you heard in my clip. As with any raw lineout signal, it would sound buzzy as hell on it's own.

What you're hearing is the Lineout signal being put through two Redwirez Cabinet Impulses (software plug-ins). Similar to how you would use a Cabinet/Speaker simulator.

Yes, this is how I run mine and uses the Redwires. I use a Weber mass as a load though. I find that the signal going to the DAW is "cleaner" when the attenuator is bypassed but still using my direct box...everything being equal. I'm going to move to a reactive load (an iso box made just to house a speaker and insulate it) and still use the redwires.

I was curious as how you've got your line out setup. Some circuits try to compensate for loses due to attenuation and wanted to know if you had done anything like that.

Oh cool, let me know what you think when you try it with a reactive load :)

The Line Out on mine has no tone shaping or anything at all. It's just a signal tapped off the amp's Speaker Jack with a resistor, pot and a jack.

Video of you wearing fishnet boxers and combat boots would be a good starter.

Hey Dan! That sounds awesome!

It sounds better than the original to me

The 2 impulses i used were both identical - Bogner Ubercab w/ V30's and then mic'd up with Royer 121 Ribbon mics. Then i simply added some extra reverb and delay on the guitar track.
Hey man. Which mic position did you use and what do you mean you used 2 impulses?

I used two impulses together at the same time, both identical impulses/settings.

The mics are set straight on the cone, and then backed away by 2 inches

Thanks. What does using two at the same time do?

To my ears it makes it sound more real and like the tone i get in the room when using a real cab! With only one impulse being used, it sounded good... but using two identical impulses at the same time just made it bigger and better sounding :)

Hmm. I'll try that out. What convolution plugin are you using?

Have you downloaded and used the impedance curve IRs from redwires? You use them with your speaker IR in another convolution instance. They are very nice.

I haven't tried those but i'll look into it! Thanks for the recommendation :)

I'm using LAConvolver as my convolution plug-in, and the clip was recorded in Garageband
