Fortin is synonymous with epic win.

My handmade Cali will be here by Christmas, and my Natas in April. The excitement is beyond words.

I could see me driving a Natas one day, or something similar....

I think it sounds great for the rythm stuff but I really want to hear some lead lines. How much sustain does this have for lead work? The big thing I notice about Mike's work is that even with a huge amount of gain there is clearity. Very tight sounding amp that I'm sure would be great for stuff like Testament, Nevermore, etc...

Hey Jim,
You can easily dial it is for smooth lead lines. I'm a lead player so I always make sure that the lead stuff works well with what I do. DaveZ is the guy who played on the clips. If did the clips, that is all that it would be, lead playing ...then I would have people complaining that they want to hear rhythm   If you listen to the other half dirt clip, Dave hangs on some notes, it sustains nicely even in the low gain mode. Higher gain mode, even at low volume, it breaks into the octave feedback sustain.

Good lord that thing is brutal

It can get Heavy sounding but also half dirty or clean. In High mode is it 4 gain stages, Low mode 3 gain stage, then depending on how you set the 2 gain controls that work together and selection of the Thick switch and master volume Hair function...you can get a lot of variations. Check out the 2nd Half Dirt clips, at the end of it, we start switching in and out all the different switches and functions, turning of the controls etc. Fun stuff
Cheers,
Mike

Mike how did you like the overall build quality of the VM? I've read that the transformers in the VMs are actually pretty nice.

The thing I'm struggling with is that I can't judge how this amp would work for an 80s hack like myself. I actually enjoy the typical Unchained, lay it down riffs used all to often. It allows me to hear how well a given amp can do the 80's metal thing. As you can tell from my crappy vids I love playing old Ratt, Lynch type stuff and I attempt to shred. But from time to time I like heavy stuff such as Overkill, Testament, Nevermore so an amp that excels at those two tone types would be ideal for me.

How do these modded Marshalls stack up against the PTP wired brutality of the Voodoo amps Vrock?

Hey Jim,
Sounds like you are happy with the way the VM is so there is no need for you to mod yours

This mod is for guys that don't dig the way the VM sounds stock. I think the build quality is excellent. Overall, I think it is a great mod candidate. Scan ebay and see for yourself what they are selling for used. I saw one that sold for $510. For that price, add this mod to it and for $1200 you got something with 2 footswitchable modes, fx loop, and digital reverb.
Cheers,
Mike

I may have to do that. Your amps have this wonderful grindy tight tone that I just love.
