I’m sending my Zuul back to get it looked at, fixed or replaced. I’m optimistic that I will get a properly working pedal back.

For what issue?

We have different version numbers correct? and both had the ground loop issue.

Did Fortin admit this may be a problem with the pedal?

What version is your Zuul? Mine is 9.18a and I’ve not had an issue with ground loops.

Has anyone tried one of these? It's actually 2 gates in 1....

I forget exactly. 3.something. From the second run as mine from the first run shipped with a crackling issue. An early one. Maybe the same as daves.

Found my PCB picture, mine is 3.17a.

This is starting to seem like a design flaw potentially. Wodner if they’ll say its too old or blame it on me again. I want to swap this out for a new revision and see if that helps any.

Edit:

This looks cool as it turns out Robert Keeley designed it.

I will honestly say that now that I found a work around for the Zuul, it’s really good in the loop of my amp. I need to box it up and ship it back this week.

So whats the work around? Did I miss that?

Removing the ground from the cable I use going to the key input.

Now there’s a ZUUL Mini

WTF thats says 9-12V in the copy.

When I got my first zuul someone here posted that they had a proto and that they used 12V for more headroom. I decided to ask fortin before trying with my non proto.

I was told I had no idea what I was talking about that the zuul could never take that voltage and I felt they were insinuating I was foolish as the pedal was “also silkscreened 9volts.” It was also clear Fortin was not the one answering the emails.

Behind the scenes this RT individual shared with me the text messages from Fortin where he explains the unit can take 12v but he doesn’t want people doing that cause they were blowing up grinds with 12.

Therefore they chose to lie to me instead.

I tried it anyway, the 12V has always worked sans issue and with a tad more headroom which I find important in the fx loop.

In fact up to 15 should but I will NOT and do NOT suggest anyone uses anything but 9v without fortin approval to cover my ass and prefent you from burning up your pedal.
