I talked to Trace about modding mine and he told me mods are very limited for the 2205 and 2210. I love how everyone bashes the diode clipping but then they run a tube screamer through a 'real' tube amp.

I love modded amps. Hell just about every Marshall I've owned has been modded but with the 2205's 2210, it's very easy to get a hot rodded tone with a few tweaks. You can do it by pushing the front end with a boost or by adding an EQ in the loop or a combo of both lol.
Either will do wonders to that amp and will save you $$$ . Everytime I played a gig with my 2210 and a graphic EQ in the loop people always asked me if my amp was modded and where they could get the mod. I always told them the truth that it was a stock 2210 with an EQ in the loop and I actually had a couple of guys call me a lier hahahaha!

Hell , a good 2205/10 sounds great when cranked without anything added but running the volume that way would get you kicked out of a club bigtime hahahaha. They are loud amps. My 2205 is louder then some of the new 100watt production amps they have out nowdays.

mine had 6550's in it so maybe thats why I didnt like it. I thought it sounded pretty bad though. I much preferred the 2203 type 800. If u r gonna pay 1000 for that why not just pick up a used jvm which I think tone wise is a better amp, although the 800 is probably better built.

Double the diodes and boost that bitch.

The 2205/2210's are loud, but any 2203/2204 is louder! Diodes in the signal path mess with the way the amp delivers the power, thins out the tone, if you will. The Tubescreamer in front of an all-tube signal path is much different than the built-in diodes of the 2210. Not that the 2210 isn't a kick ass amp. It's just not the same as the all tube 800's.

well i bought it and its plenty loud enough, with an eq in the loop and im boosting the shit out of it with an od pedal im getting a pretty fat sound out of it. Im wondering if anybody has played one with the voodoo deluxe mod done to it, they sure make it sound tempting but being from canada shipping it both ways will be expensive as shit

there's a 2205 locally for $700. at first bone, i was tempted to snatch it up. however, for not THAT much more money, i can scoop up a mark iv that i'm crazily gassing for after phil b's post.
