I've spent the best part of the last decade flipping through different heads, preamps, power amps

Finally I've decided to stop all this and keep rockin what works

Bias/choke modded 5150 (surprise surprise)

I've never been this happy for this long with any other amp

A few pedals into the front of this baby and I'm all sorted

Rig pics/clips to come

First time in years that I've not wanted to keep experimenting with more amps

This amp just has something that the others don't :worship:

One of the best high gain amps ever made

Amps used so far:
- Triple Recto
Engl Blackmore
TSL-100
Sherlock Signal Station
Recto Rack Pre/Power amp
Stock 5150
Uberschall
Axe-Fx
Sherlock Fathead
5150 II
ADA MP-1

Congratulations!

I am done flipping gear all the time for a while. I have got more than enough, and I am gonna concentrate more on actually playing, rather than obsessing over tiny details here and there.

See how long that is going to last...

Should we see how long we can last before deciding to change it all up again?

I'm actually getting lazier as the years go by! So I can't be bothered changing it all up again...at lest for now! ;)

But yeah, we'll see how we go :scared:

I find it difficult to even think of adding anything to my rig. The Peters gear is just so key for what I'm looking for.

I'm glad you've found what makes you sound like you.

I'm lucky Peters isn't in Australia...therefore I have no interest in his gear haha

That's awesome. I've been using nothing but my 5150 since 1993 for gigging and recording. It's bee in the shop once since 1993 and I think it was because beer got spilled down the top vent. I bought a 5150 III last year and that has become my main amp but I still use the 5150 when I run stereo and I also have 5150 combo I keep at the house for home use. Great amps.

I know me too... Its the connecting and disconnecting that I just can't be bothered with anymore :D I understand how Rack Systems can make a living doing it

The problem is that I think sometimes we are worse than women...

I found myself looking at the guitar gear in my studio:

12 guitars (inc. PRS C24, US Strat Deluxe FMT, 2 Les Pauls, Tele's... a Wal Bass... etc...)
Carvin Quad X Pre
Mesa Recording Rectifier
Mesa Roadster
Fender Hot Rod Deluxe
Cabinets en masse
Tube drive pedals...
FX pedals
Rack FX... (inc 2 TC G Major's for some reason)
bla bla bla....

and then I caught myself thinking...

"Oh I want to record something... But I have nothing to play"

That's a woman talking right there!!!

Its time to just buckle up, plug in, and play!

Here is a thought...

Take a good hard look at all your gear and ask yourself this question:

What would Jimi do?
:dunno:

Good point :D I wonder what a G Major unit would sound like going up in flames...

they're great amps, but don't try to kid yourself... there will be more amps lol.

Not to be a typical 1-upper, but a lot of guys would go through that many amps in a few months. And compared to what's on that list a 5150 doesn't seem like a bad choice.

I alwaysthought the 5150 was a fun amp. I would love to try a modded version.

Lots of flippers are not even really looking for anything in particular other than reactions from their peers online anyways, there are some tone quest travelers but most is just static man

Congrats on being happy, it is a great feeling and I do not miss playing UPS monkey at all
