A couple of observations so far in this thread.

1.) Thank God I am not old enough or effeminate enough to have ever partaken in that whole big hair, Sunset Strip thing.

2.) I notice Steve is using the Charvel while the Kramer sits on the stand most likely ignored the whole night. The pecking order is complete and the guitar universe was in alignment at that time. I'm sure the Kramer never got touched unless Steve broke a string during "Rock Hard" or "Pedal to the Metal" or "Rockin' On Through The Night".

 Looks more 90s than 80s, bro - where's the bangs and poofage? I don't see any makeup either... Very disappointing... :(

;)

Steve
Busted...I think that might have been '91. More than likely had guyliner on though

Although not a band shot, here's my senior pic from PSU taken summer of '89...the hair still had a bit of "poofiness" left at that point :D (the weirdness across the bottom of the pic is my awful attempt to photoshop out the word "proof" :scared: )

Exactly, I only used the Kramer a few times when I broke a string on "Shot Down" or "Take It To the Limit" or "Push Comes To Shove"...

OK, here's what I like here. At this time I was 16 and would have been rolling my eyes that this dude on stage was still living in the 70's. Looking back now as a grown up and someone who saw my favorite era of music come and go and become incredibly uncool and become semi-cool again, I realize I like what I like. I don't care what the trend was. I wasn't going to go grunge no matter what. I didn't like it. Going grunge and playing grunge just to "make it" in my opinion is not really making it unless that is the style you truly loved.

So kudos to Carl. He dug his Hendrix and his Blackmore and his Trower and his Bolin and possibly his Uli Roth and his big headstock, CBS strats and THAT is the guitar and the style he was going to play. That either takes being obliviously, hopelessly out of date, or so into what you are into that you are willing to stand up and flip the bird at all these noob, hipster doofus's who think they know where it's at. My guess is that Carl was the guy who was flipping us all the bird and in retrospect, he may have been right. He refused to wear spandex and eyeliner and we thought we were the ones who were cool. :D

  Actually the next time we played there I had more 80's type clothes. Never spandex though. We had a girl singer, she wore that shit.

Good times though. Playing, then doing all sorts of drugs (not recommended) in between sets

So true!

To give myself some props, I was into the whole glam look starting in '73 with Alice Cooper and the New York Dolls. I alway wanted to look the way I did playing in the 80s from the time I started playing guitar pretty much. What a homo, huh?

I've got some 80s gig photos I'll try to post later.

Some of my bands' names in the '80s were:

Wicked Innocense
Lyonzeyze (pronounced lion's eyes - thought it was a good one at the time, haha!)
Pull On My Dick For a Treat (a punk band I was in)
Misconception
Statutory Rape (yep, another great name idea)
