So I have been running my Framus Cobra with a rocktron intellifex lately...sounds great.

However, I am having a hard time figuring out how to adjust my levels accordingly in order to achieve "unity gain".

For those that do not know...(from google   )...unity gain is a steady state signal with no increase or decrease in strength at the output of an amplifier or device compared to the signal strength at the input.

Basically, I can not get my volume levels dialed in correctly so there is no loss of signal or volume loss issues.

Where do I begin to achieve unity gain in the cobra? There is the FX Mix knob, the master volumes, as well as the Input and Output controls on the intellifex to consider and I have no idea where to set any of them...

I guess the mix knob should be set to 100% or all wet since it is a parallel loop...

can someone else point me in the right direction?

FX unit must be set to 100% wet or kill dry if possible. what are the options and when it is set to 100 wet is is really 100 wet with no dry?

use the fx loop mix knob on the amp front to determine the fx level relative to the dry signal.

set the input level as loud as it will go without clipping in to the fx unit. does the intelliflex have a +4 /-10 selection?

is the cobras loop tube buffered? edit: manual says yes.

does the amp loss volume when you plug a simple cable into the fx loop without the FX?

ok found the manual.

set the input level to avoid led clip light lighting. set it as high as you can without the clip led lighting.

it seems they call the dry signal the direct signal and this can be changed for the left and right individually. set them both to zero or mixing dry with dry from the parallel loop will cause phasing. do this globally if possible or in each and every patch you use.

in the chorus, reverb level etc.. section they mention master fx levels these also need to be set to 100 wet in each patch if not globally. the knob on the amp should be the only functioning fx level selector.

set the output level of the fx processor by pulling it in and out of the loop until it is unity gain in/out of the loop by turning the output knob.

thanks so much!

and yes, the intellifex has a +4/-10 db option

i know the cobra loop is at 0 db...so which is the appropriate setting for the intellifex?
