which one is better for hard rock/metal tones?

I have a framus...but gas for a uberschall has been creeping on me.

lol...stick with the cobra man. It seems like thats what you have wanted, and now you have it and are just LOOKING for a reason to off it for something else...just enjoy that sumbitch!!

completely different amps
only thing in common is that they're both high gain and bass/mid heavy
but the gain structure and feel are so different
the bogner has that sludgy thing on the mids and low end, while the cobra has open clean mids and dry picking response, more like a tighter and punchier SLO
I wouldn't say the cobra is more versatile, but it has a flawless fender bassman clean channel
for metal only, I'd probably pick the cobra, but I'd love to have an uberschall for some heavy modern rock, like Down or Tool

Both are good amps, like someone else already mentioned they have a different responce and feel. I play metal and owned both and I still have my uber and sold my cobra. I play mine boosted and it tightens it up alot, I like the more saturated gain that the uber gives me, the uber is also smoother sounding too.
Both are nice and you can't go wrong with either of them, for heavy rock I would go with the uber, the cobra has better cleans.
Cobras are known for being very tight and have alot of lower mid growl, they can be picky with certain speakers and tubes.

not even close. Keep the Cobra or you are in for a COLOSSAL letdown. The Uberschall was the absolute worst amp i have ever owned. Fizzy, muddy, mushy mess. The cleans sucked, the gain was disgusting. Keep your Cobra man, that is really one of the best amps on earth.

Did KT88's in both, I prefer the uber voicing and the better fx loop.
uber loop still sucks but its better than the cobras.

cobra is just a copy of a SLO lol..... circuit is almost identical.

boatshoes, I wish you would change your cabinet as often as your amp :gethim:

shit sell it. i hated the cobra a lot more than i expected to. huge letdown.

shut up!!! :gethim:

Never had the Uber.......
owned a Cobra for a while.
It was a kick ass amp. Geared toward metal in my opinion.
Wouldnt mind snagging another.

Both killer amps that blend very well together! I play the Cobra and the other guitarist the Uberschall... pure sonic destruction!!!

Best is you run both with an ABY... godly tones straight from hell! You HAVE to try that once.

I'd say the Cobra is a lot more punchy/percuting and tight, it also covers all frequences. Cuts down very well in the mix.

The Uber is has more bass, is darker, more roomfilling and has a grainy gain.

A Chainsaw vs a Tank
