Free-Way 3x3 Six Way Selector Switch

I just got another one of these switches to wire up. I found some wiring diagrams on their website to get close to what I want, but not exactly. Aside from the neck and bridge humbuckers on 1&3 (respectively), I want the the outer coils split for clean tones. This diagram is the one that coveres all my basses.

Here are the questions: Is this good enough? Am I missing out on better combos? Do I really need both humbuckers at once if I have the dual split coils? Is there a better way to wire this up? Should I bother trying to crack this code, or just follow the diagram?

Here is the raw inner workings for reference:

I was just checking one of these out. I think the combos presented are pretty good. You even get the neck/bridge thing with the split outer coils.

I did one in my V a while back. That was an older version with tabs that stick up. This one is better.

At least on a 5 way super switch blade style, everything is lined up and easy to make sense of. I think I'm starting to grasp the layout. The corners are the corners and the middle tabs do the middle settings. The pads on these are better for making jumper wires.

Ah nice, thanks for that info. It seems like a bit to get ahold of, but when I see the diagram, I just think of 3 settings like normal on one side, and then 3 settings that are different on the other. I would have to have such super specicfic switch postioning on my guitar to not get a bit mixed up - especially if I were using it live!

I have a couple guitars that are H/H this would be cool with but I bet it would be extra cool with an SSH.

Is this for that newest guitar you were sharing? What a trio of guitars man, beautiful tops. Look like siblings.

Yeah. I'm about to order the pickups and shuffle some things around. They are all Jarrett guitars, with two being the Forza model and the new one is the Ibiza model. I'm going to put a JB/Jazz in Zebra in one of the Forzas and flip those pickups into the new one.

Pickups can be a lot of fun to mess around with.

I am replacing my BK Silo set with Planet Tone Road Pro IVs. I have only been able to swap the neck in, but damn it is possibly the best neck pickup I have played - at least 100% in this guitar.

If you haven't already chosen something, I would recommend checking out Planet Tone. You can speak with them about what you are looking for and even get custom sets and stuff. Prices are reasonable enough to be able to take a shot I feel.

Ah, yeah, Jarrett - cool! So they are siblings - don't just look like it.

Every guitar is different, hope you find the set that works for that one!

I have taken the same exact pickup from one guitar that it didn't work in and put it into another and it sounded great - even if wiring and caps were the same.
