Why is it that ESP and J-Custom guitars have very round fret ends, but most other guitars do not? Is there a reason why more people don't have the more rounded/ball ended fret ends? I personally find them more comfortable than the normal ones. Here are pics of what I mean:

One is ESP and one is a J-Custom. The other two are just random pics I found.

My ESP Custom shop KH2 NTB has THE best fretwork of any guitar I've owned. Frets are rounded like that, and it plays as well or better than anything I've ever owned. They know their fretwork!

Do you know if the ESP Standard series has the same fretwork? Guitars like the ESP M Series, Horizon Series, etc. I've played the standard series, but I can't remember what the fretwork was like on them.

I just looked at 2 MIIs that I have - frets are rounded also.

at least they aren't plastic like on all Gibsons with bound boards. I hate when they do that and don't have the frets reach over the binding.

Dont Caparison do the same thing with their fret ends too?

I played a Neal Moser guitar once, hated the looks but holy shit.. the playabililty was just unreal. The frets were so shined up and perfect it was like playing on glass!!

From what I've seen and experienced, no. The guitar I played in Ishibashi didn't have them, and I don't recall any pics showing them like that, either.

Ahhh right my mistake! :)

Anyway, i do really like those ESP and J-Custom fret ends!

Just want to correct myself - I meant Ikebe, not Ishibashi.

And yeah, it seems most people really love those fret ends, so it made me wonder why more manufacturers don't do it. I don't even think Anderson and Suhr do it?

Tommy-chan, why aren't you on AIM?

My AIM isn't connecting for whatever reason. I'm still on MSN and Yahoo, though.

Those fret ends are killer but I wonder what the price would be without that dressing, maybe I dont do that prince stuff enough but never had issues with a normal dressing.
