He does make a good point about a lot of amps sounding similar once dialed in because of the importance of the speaker and the mic. He's not wrong to suggest they are huge factors. But ultimately it comes down also to how it sounds in room or how it feels when you play it. I also need to say that while I was listening to this vid in the kitchen yesterday, my wife walked in and said " Who the f-ck is that guy? He's annoying as hell, can you turn him down or better yet, OFF?" lol. He really is annoying as all hell. Yelly' Fricker.

what an asshole explaining to his young noob viewers just looking to rock that you dont need a $5k amp to sound good, with actual demos to prove it. fucking jerk

Have no issue with that, but a lot from what I've seen that I don't personally agree with is the clickbaity stuff and "matter of facts" which if he's aiming that at younger people, things kinda tend to stick with you and get repeated. 🤷‍♀️

Are his subs exceptionally slow learners? Because isn’t this the 7149th time he’s covered the exact same topic? He’s just like CNN and Fox combined in that his viewers just want the same old story with minor variations over and over, feigning enlightenment and faking eureka moments every time.

There's a lot of beginners (and experienced people who are cheap) who have shitty gear who want their purchases rationalized and their egos stroked.

"See, you don't need expensive gear to ROCK guys"

Which, I don't know who ever said that you needed expensive gear, just that it's nice and sounds good?

Glenn has found himself a great market niche as someone who feeds the delusions of poor teenagers and beginners who aren't very good at guitar

@the other John Browne has a great video on the old SLO 60

If you wanted to save some cash, get one of these, or a hot rod, or an avenger, or a jet city, etc etc etc

There's a ton of legitimate ways you can get close to that sound without spending 4k, but that doesn't mean that the OG is stupid or something because you don't think it's worth it. Because guess what? Thousands upon thousands of people do.

I am amazed that anybody still pays attention to this asshat

He's at the top of my YouTube shitlist to never watch regardless of the click bait title. He takes annoying to new levels.

She was right, so why bring him here? :ROFLMAO:

The pull to be controversial was just too strong!! So here is what I don't get.. the guy says a 183$ amp can sound like a Soldano.. well then why did he destroy a perfectly good Klark Teknik Pultec clone with a sledgehammer in his backyard? Isn't he able to match EQ and nudge it so it sounds identical??

I thought that this was a good summary of technique in the studio (recording technique) being more important (as important) as gear. I think you can randomly select any Ola does it chug video and surmise that the amps with a close mic and the same recording technique, all start to sound the same.

If you are buying an amp to record, you probably can find something similar sounding for cheaper.

I agree that his videos are annoying but he obviously knows more about recording than I do. I haven’t personally met him but two of my buddy’s that play in fairly well known bands have hung out with him and said he’s a solid dude. I’m gonna take their word for it.

i find most of his advice to be pretty solid, especially for the 15yr old metal head playing a Solar into a plugin using headphones looking to learn to record, which by the polls ive seen him do is his audience. everything in this video, especially towards the end i agree with 100%.

if he gloats about something, hes a cock sucking shill probably sucking to companies dick. if he literally bashes gear he dosent like, its cause he sucks. if he trys to enlighten people to an under the radar amp that punches above its weight, with demo of said amp, get this mother fucker the fuck out. dude cant win lol

Cheers, bud!

Turned out this SL60 was modded a little heavier than I thought but your comment is on point.
