Friedman amps - why is the bass on 11?

I bet speaker cabs and how loud these guys play factors into the bass knob settings. The bass isn't gonna overpower if you crank. The louder I play the brighter my amps seem.
I set my BE bass about noon with mids at 2:00, pres and treb at noon. SS-100 everything is around 2-3:00. It's a different animal.
I'll try those plexi setting tips Dave. Thanks.

I thought that bass was pretty big on the newest version BE100 when I had it. 10 was too much for me through a Mesa recto 2x12.

I have the Smallbox 50 now, and find I can dime the bass without it being too much. It remains tight and doesn't take over the sound.
It in no way sounds wimpy with the bass around noon, though.
I am currently using a Bogner OS2x12 with V30s.
I like to set the eq around 6 on the dial for each knob, adjusting for different guitars, volume levels or type of music.
It seems to me that each knob has a decent amount of adjustment for a small frequency range.

6ish on all the knobs seems to work for me too on my SB.

i'll have to check the settings dave proposed. no, a plexi is. right n not dark, so if the plexi tone can be achieved sith those settings, is would not be dark, but most of the tone witht the settings i usually use are dark n have only gotten a plexi n bright setting when u run the be-100 like a plexi n master cranked with gain turned down then up to the break ul u want n level u can handle!

all other settings off dave?...sat, voicing, fat, etc??

I own a SS 100 and it's fantastic. Clean channel has blown me away just as much as the gain channel. Simply brilliant. I have the matching cab with V30's. One night after I had the amp dialed in to my liking, I dimed everything on the gain channel. Expecting a total mudfest, I was stunned when I rolled up the volume on my Luxxtone. It sounded better than my previous settings. Thick with bite but not flabby at all. This was with bass pegged. I have since backed the treble and presence back a bit to "7" on each, as the ice picks were starting to come out just a tad with them at 11. But I left the bass and mids dimed, the gain dimed as well and this amp sounds fantastic. Add to this sonic bliss, I had a CAE PT100 for years and although it had a smokin clean, the clean on the SS is smokin good and for me, the real unsung hero with this amp.

Yeah, I have the be 100 and it does have a great sounding clean channel, but I didn't purchase a hotrodded Marshall circuit type amp for the clean channel as 90% it is overdriven. Has anyone tried swapping out the jj's? I know that they can be dark sounding. I've tried it with 70's ere blackback 30's and with g1275's so far.

I've just finished a rehearsal this weekend using the 'Sambora settings' (appears to be bass - 10, everything else around 6) & it works perfectly. No muddiness = sounds fab!
