Have had the Friedman for a yr and finally made a clip of the BE channel. Turned out decent but nothing like a lot of the BE clips I hear. Volume was cracked open pretty good but can't seem to get the volume with my zoom hq3 at a good level, using the auto setting. Anybody got any tips for that?

Just got the Carol Ann Monday but its a great amp as well imo.
Clip was made with the vintage gain setting.

Pay no attention to the VHT CLX sitting on the cab that was not used, there's stacks and stacks of amps on those 4x12s :hys:

Songs and rifs are not played all correct but I'm not in a cover band so all is good :D I know not a good excuse for shoddy riffing :scared:

killer tone on both accounts!!

Thanks, the zoom captured it pretty well but still nothing like the "in the room sound" still working on capturing that with the zoom. Maybe time for a better camera although it seems others get better results than me with the zoom camera.
More experimentation I guess.

both sounded good to me

the carol ann is sooo thick

that tone may sound great solo but may not work so well in a two guitar band.

Cool. I think I prefer your VHT clip first and the BE clip second out of all vids in you link

cool clips ! for the tripik try modern gain, input gain around 1:00, make sure level in the loop on the back is at least at 11:00, gain noon, mids a touch past noon, treb noon and pres about 1:00, I use that sound all the time and it KILLS, dig the BE too

You ought to hear it in the modern gain setting, thicker yet!

Super fun amp to play James and sounds fantastic
I will try those settings on Modern, where are u running bass with that?
I'm running it pretty low through a 4x12 even in vintage mode.

Set the volume on the Zoom to "low", place the unit about 10 feet in front of the cab slightly off axis and CRANK IT !!! More clips please.

Both amps sound phenomenal. What speakers were used?

Thanks!
Triptik was with scumback blue frame M75's 25 watters in a splawn hybrid slant 4x12 and the Friedman was thru a splawn straight 4x12 with greenback reissues.

Thanks charveldan for the advice on the camera, will try it.

It works great. Most of my clips are 3 to 4 on the Master, this one i goosed to 5, was LOUD as fuck ...

Don't discount your camera man! The Friedman sounds killer man and it has that note bounce that is inherent in all of them. What kind of settings did you have going on? The Friedman was wicked smooth.

And Junkhead sounded killer too!

They both sound nice.

So, all bullshit and politically correct nonsense aside, which of the two amps do you prefer and why? You paid for them - you are entitled to your opinion. Please share.

Too early into the triptik to know for sure exactly where it stacks against the Friedman, gonna need some more time with it as I've been changing out speakers all week and sticking to a combination for 2 days to really get a feel for how it sounds and reacts before trying the next batch or combination of speakers.

Initial impressions are great...clean, vintage gain, and modern gain all sound great and used price was about a thousand cheaper than a used Brown Eye.
It has a great effects loop and like the friedman it has a great master volume that works outstanding for lower volumes (not talking bedroom volumes here. But I will say just like most all tube amps the more you turn it up the triptik gets even better and sound pretty frickin great but I gotta give the edge to the Friedman BE channel in this respect as it sounds killer at all volumes but it becomes pure magic when really cranked good thru a good 4x12...just unreal sounding as in best amp I've ever owned by a long shot and I've owned a bunch.

I was skeptical of the Friedman hype before buying it and even after receiving it I took awhile to really come to love it as I was used to amps with more gain so I was stuck on the Hairy Brown Eye channel for several months and while it was really good it was not until I started checking out the Brown Eye channel that I really saw what a great amp this is. There are a ton of good Friedman youtube videos but until you've played and heard it at a good volume or even a modest volume you realize how great it sounds. Clips don't do it justice (cliché I know) you gotta be there in the room lol. I don't even plug into the HBE input anymore. HBE is great and I'm sure plenty of owners love it but for me the BE channel is where the magic is at.

So far different flavors but in a month or two I will know which one I prefer.

Setting are BE channel Presence 1:30, bass 9:00, mids 1:30, Treble 2:00, gain 4:00, and volume 10:00

Updated the original post, I added a clip of the BE doing Junkhead to compare to the Triptik clip.
