I ordered a BE100 and matching 4 x 12 cab through sweetwater. It is scheduled for delivery on Monday. I have my hopes high. I think this will be a fantastic amp.

First post is a new half stack...very cool. You're gonna love it.

I checked the tracking and it says it is on the truck for delivery but the scheduled delivery day is still Monday. Maybe I'll get lucky and get it today. I can't count how many times I have had my hopes and expectations high while waiting on a piece of gear only to be disappointed with its tone, or for some other reason. I don't think that is going to be the case this time!

No luck on the BE100 being delivered early, but USPS did drop off the Sir Compre pedal I ordered. I ordered the pedal to get that singing lead tone. Maybe I wont need this pedal with the BE100.

It's 12:21 am, can't sleep. LoL! Today is the day!

Here is a picture of what the Be100 is replacing. The Runt 20 and matching Runt 212. I only had this briefly.

Congrats! Love that Bulldog BTW...

Questions before I plug it in. The manual does not specify. On the front panel what is the on position for the power and standby switches. Is on up or down?

What about the small switches in the rear, is on up or down?

If you are concerned about turning it on without using the standby, just flip one switch up and the other down and then plug it in. It will either be OFF with SB switch on or it will be ON but in standby.

On the BE/HBE channel, the amps master volume or gain knobs were not working for a full ten minutes. The amps volume was very low, sound quality was poor, and the master volume nor gain knob had any effect. Then all of a sudden WHAM it started working, scared the shit out of me, heard a loud pop, hope I did not blow a speaker. I turned the amp off (Up) and I'm going to let the amp cool and see if it does that again. Is this normal behavior? It might be going back.

OK I did that. The four large tubes were all firmly seated except maybe one was able to be pushed further in a slight hair - ever so slightly.

If it does not do it again I am not going to worry about it. When the volume and gain knobs finally did start working, the amp sounded great!

I let it cool off for a few hours. When I turned it on it did not do it again. Amp sounds great. I haven't even tried out the HBE channel yet. I was so into it I forgot.

Sounds like you read the manual, but most of that won't make much sense unless you have good basic knowledge of tube amps, as well as log some playing "hours" with the front and back controls of the amp. Not saying you don't know the basics of amps, but your problem and description of the problem seems to sound very unusual. The volume and gain works for awhile then it just STOPS working while playing?? We need more info than that cause sounds like your jumping to conclusions about sending it back first day without even checking anything more than if the tubes are seated. Ha, but won't waste my time if you don't want to put the effort into troubleshooting your new $5,000 rig.

What are you babbling about? Do you even know? Waste your time? I don't recall asking for anyone's help. I sure don't need yours!

Sweetwater can send it back and let Friedman troubleshoot it, after they send me a replacement. What would you have me do? Break out the multi-meter and start testing circuits? I don't think so! I seriously doubt Sweetwater or Dave Friedman would want me poking around in the amp either! To tell the truth, I don't give a crap what is wrong with this $4000.00 amp. I just know it is not working as it should. Logging playing hours and fiddling with the knobs and switches is not the cure. I will get a replacement that works as it should on day 1.

As far as reading the manual, it ain't rocket science. As far as my knowledge of tube amps is concerned, I am qualified to use one. My last Friedman tube head did not do what this one is doing. None of the other tube amps I have owned did what this one is doing. Like I said, it's not rocket science!

Sorry for your trouble. Most likely a tube issue. Well between Sweetwater or myself we have you covered. Let me know if you have any other issues.

Thank you Dave! You're the man! I have been doing business with Sweetwater for many years. They have always been great! I am sure they will exchange it.

On a side note...I am swapping the BE 100 for a JJ 100
