The 2:14 mark sounded mega better with the Naked than the BE, but ya, overall the BE sounded sweeter. Granted, more compressed and gainier too. My guess would be once the powersection of the Naked started to open up (live setting or attenuated) the tubes would lend themselves to more openness.

Should set the tone the same, BE was slightly lower in level too, but I think EQ'd the same as Naked it on the front panel controls (BE) would sound even better (to me)

The BE sounds gainier & looser, the naked was tighter, clearer and more in your face, you sure you didn't have the 'sat' thing on the BE?

Gotta agree with most everyone else on this clip. The Naked sounds kinda muffled and scooped. I much prefer the BE.

Shocked...from everything I've heard, I came in here expecting the Naked to kill it...read all the comments, and usually I'm in the minority on this board when it comes to comparisons....but to me the BE killed it. The Naked sounded much thinner and much more scooped. Didn't like it here.

Very cool. I bet if you cranked the mids on the BE, it could kinda cop that Naked tone.

Another vote for the BE...it sounded like it would sit much better in a mix than the more "scooped" sounding naked. That said, how close can you get one to sound like the other by tweaking the settings (such as pulling back the highs and lows and boosting the mids on the Naked and/or rolling back some mids and pumping the highs and lows on the BE)?

Does anybody know if the BE/HBE was revoiced from the Marsha days? The clip here on the BE setting sounds a lot gainier than my Marsha does on the HBE setting...my BE setting has significantly less gain/compression than what I'm hearing here. My Marsha was said to have had the JBE mod but there is no switch for it...perhaps either the BE or HBE is really the JBE???

I agree, the Naked does sound a tad darker, but I bet if you got the master up a bit more like the BE, it would be a different story. My vote is for the Naked.
