Curious on peoples thoughts. I’ve heard that Grover Jackson is retiring from the guitar building process and no longer working much with Friedman guitars. Thoughts on how this affects the guitar building process since according to the Friedman site, Grover participated in choosing of the woods and construction overview. Might this affect the line of guitars down the road?

I think Dave Friedman eluded to this on a recent Tone Talk, but can't remember what that meant as far as production goes. Maybe he can still license out his name and designs to Friedman? Or maybe it will breed a lateral lineup?

He was replaced a while back as far as I know. Seems to be rolling along smoothly still

They posted pics of a bunch of flamed out necks and bodies in progress recently. Doesnt seem to have skipped a step.

RE: Grover, I thought he was in process on opening shop back up in/near Nashville and you can definitely trust the internet.

Looks like he's back up and running: https://www.facebook.com/groverjacksonengineering/
Not sure the brand he's building for but those on the bench look like abasi shapes?

Thanks for the reply, good content. Seems like the relationship between those two came to an end and they went their separate ways. Interesting. I don’t own a Friedman but they do seem interesting.

Why don't you just email Dave Friedman and ask him yourself. He always welcomes emails.
I did and he said Grover is semi-retired and he wouldn’t be able to complete and further custom requested work in a Friedman guitar when it comes to choosing wood body options. I was looking to see what that really meant. Seems to me they decide to go different ways and ended their partnership.

I'm pretty sure Friedman guitars are now made by Billy Rowe at Rock 'n Roll Relics

I saw recently that Grover has teamed up with Morgan amps to start making guitars for them.
