Hmm I don’t know anything about amp mods man but maybe because it’s not a mod he does from start to finish it’s taking longer? He’s not one to screw anyone over so I’m sure he’s got a good reason. Am assuming you’ve sent him a note checking in

Not for a second have I thought anything negative.

I did ask a question back in June, he told me to be patient, haha.
I listened.

I know it will be awesome.

I mainly use my Metro kit JTM45.
I do want to tighten it up a little, I’ll just look up some mods and do myself.

I’m handy with a soldering iron and meter.
 
That amp sounds sick. It had that Friedman DNA but I definitely heard that low end and gain staging that we hear in the Cameron and other amp brands. A lot of options in that one.

totally get it dude, the uncertainty is never fun. I wish I lived in LA, I’d just take him a new amp every time he finished one and sweeten the deal with some tequila and sushi from his fav local joint lol

I went through the same thing back in 2012 (maybe 13: Can't remember) when I sent my amp to Dave. It was around the time the BE100 was starting to take off and we all had GAS hard lol.

In the end it was worth it. And he was a complete gentleman. Even threw in some extra mods at no cost because it took way longer for him to finish than originally expected and we got to talk at length about the process etc.

You're in good hands!

I don’t go head over heels for every new amp Friedman does these days but this sounds killer. This one and the Phil X are tempting.

It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but the 1-knob simple clean on this Jose head would be really cool. I had it on an original Naked and it’s on my Bogner Eclipse. It’s not perfect but it’s good; super useful live.

agreed! my friend who owns a botique shop locally will be getting one once they start shipping so i look forward to hearing this thing.

btw how are you doing in light of the ongoing Palisades fire ordeal? is your house accessible and safe to dwell in? i pray for you and your community.

i know that in Lahaina people were unable to even visit what was left of their properties for a long time because FEMA sealed the town perimeter off for an extended period of time during forensic searches and removal of hazardous materials.

Same PcB platform as the BE?

I’d be curious what the ‘base’ circuit is (ie identical to the Plex or a tweaked version of that)?
 
The few times the phone was up against the speaker, you can really hear the amp. The muffled sound was gone and the guitar sounded clear.
I'm no EVH expert, but that was THE tone.
I'm wondering if I can get my type tones out of this. I guess I'll keep watching the Friedman website for an announcement on taking orders.
 
Didn't Dave say on ToneTalk he was debuting a new 20watt High Gain amp??

Thanks so much for asking brother...My place is still standing, but requires significant remediation. I found a way in very early this morning. Was able to get some clothes and check on my gear. I have an armed guard stationed 24 hours a day at the door.

In terms of the overall community...It's absolutely heartbreaking to drive through that town. But we will be back...Stronger.

It's based on real life modded Plexis he's encountered over the years, so probably nothing like his BE.

In one of the videos he said there two main presence circuits to choose from, a late 60s and mid 70s style.

I meant is it PCB constructed, like the BE is.

Base circuit of course would be different - but curious if the same as the Plex
 
I think he said it was going to be identical to real Jose mod amps but with the switching implementations modernized.
