Hi guys, so I just received my Friedman modded Marshall JMP 100 in the mail this past week. When I first played through it, I was a little worried because in HBE mode, there wasn't was as much gain as I was expecting. I also noticed the mids knob did nothing noticeable to the sound. I took this for what it was, thinking this was normal. Then a couple days ago, the amp's volume dropped a little, and all that gain I thought was missing appeared! It sounded incredible! Plus the middle knob worked again, so I sort of shrugged it off as no big deal. Well, today while I was playing it, the gain on the HBE channel all of a sudden cut in half, and the volume increased again. Now, the mids knob doesn't work at all. I tried subbing in a preamp tube for each different slot with no avail. I haven't tried replacing them all at once, but that's for tomorrow. I tried removing the cables from the FX loop and turning the loop off and no change. This is with all modes off on the back as well. According to the seller, the empty tube socket to the left seen below was added with the mod.

The amp is a 76' Marshall JMP 100 MK2. It has the KS package. Simple clean, BE, and HBE modes are all switchable. Has C45, Sat, Fat, and the loop with the on/ off toggle and the return level.

Any ideas?

If you ship the amp to me I would be happy to fix it at no charge. Just pay shipping. Sounds like a cracked conection somewhere.

Wow.
now that's one stand up guy there.
this is really good to see.

Just to update, I'm shipping the amp to Dave tomorrow. Super cool of him to fix it for free! I've only owned the amp for a week, and it has dethroned every other amp I own. It's my new favorite for sure.
