New artist I produced and co-wrote the song. I'm diggin' the grind of the Friedman HBE and VH4 channel 3 blended. Guitar is my sunburst Standard with a Godwood in the bridge. Cab; Scumback 1969 Spec Straight.

Production is awesome. Guitar tones sound great. Great drum sound. Chick is hot, and she has a good voice.

My biggest complaint would be the lyrical content. It seems generic to me. Which really isn't the main point of the song, the melody/hook are. Of course I'm not a girl and her target audience is a lot different than mine. This also isn't a genre of music I'd personally listen to but I can certainly appreciate the production value (which is awesome). That said, if this gig payed money (and I'm sure it does) I'd tour with her. :D

Thanks guys, yeah I'm getting ready to roll out a whole new stable of artists in the next few months.

Yeah, shes a great singer, especially in the top of her range.

The song is super well produced, well mixed and sounds amazing.

I think you guys are crazy on the lyric thing. Platitudes? She's 15, her audience is 15. Think about the dribble you and your friends talked about in 9th grade. Read some lyrics from 15 year old artists. I think she's on point and I'm betting the house on it, so hopefully for me you guys are wrong.

How are we supposed to know she's 15?!? She doesn't look 15 and you didn't tell us otherwise.

This is what goes through the minds of 15 year old girls. Judge it, hate it, despise it, it's how I make a living and buy the best amps in the world. If I wrote the lyrics below I probably couldn't have ever shown them to anyone because they are so stupid BUT it was a hit by a 17 year old girl.

He was a boy, she was a girl
Can I make it anymore obvious?

He was a punk, she did ballet
What more can I say?

He wanted her, she'd never tell
secretly she wanted him as well.

But all of her friends stuck up there nose
they had a problem with his baggy clothes.

He was a skater boy, she said see ya later boy
he wasn't good enough for her
She had a pretty face, but her head was up in space
she needed to come back down to earth.

five years from now, she sits at home
feeding the baby
she's all alone

she turns on tv
guess who she sees
skater boy rockin' up MTV.

she calls up her friends, they already know
and they've all got tickets to see his show

she tags along and stands in the crowd
looks up at the man that she turned down.

He was a skater boy,she said see ya later boy
he wasn't good enough for her
now he's a super star
slamin' on his guitar
does your pretty face see what he's worth?

sorry girl but you missed out
well tuff luck that boys mine now

we are more than just good friends
this is how the story ends

too bad that you couldn't see
see that man that boy could be

there is more that meets the eye
I see the soul that is inside

He's just a boy, and i'm just a girl
can I make it anymore obvious?

we are in love, haven't you heard
how we rock each others world

I'm with the skater boy, I said see ya later boy
i'll be back stage after the show
i'll be at a studio
singing the song we wrote
about a girl you used to know

She writes her songs on personal experiences, therefore she wrote the song "Sk8er Boi" on a personal experience.. It's about a guy and girl that like each other, but the girl doesn't want to admit she likes him because of what everybody else thinks of him. And then that boy becomes famous, and the girl's mates go to his concert, and the girl isn't afraid to say she's into him anymore. But ofcourse, it's too late and that guy has somebody else <--That's my interpretation anyway.. So if Avril writes about things that have happened or her emotions, I'm guessing something like that happened to her before.. Tbh, I think that song is a lot more sad than it lets on.. If you really listen to the words, you'll realise they aren't as happy as the rhythm is..

Hahah. Thanks James. That means a lot coming from someone with as much experience as yourself. Not bad for a 21 year old working out of his bedroom, eh? :D

Try out an Engl Savage or Baron Custom Amps K2. IMHO, some of the best amps ever made and they would make a nice addition to your collection.

I have a very wide taste of music ..... if you check out the lyrics of many songs by great bands from today and all the way back 50 years or more the lyrics can be silly or what ever you would call them.

Even some of my favorite bands like Led Zep and Black Sabbath have some pretty goofy lyrics. Even bands like Rush that have pretty deep lyrics can sound a bit silly.

The song has a good hook and some emotion behind it. What more could you want. In the world of pop music .... I like it better than a lot of stuff out there. Who knows ... maybe I well become a fan.

Good work James

Any of you people around here think you write better lyrics ? Post them .... lets see what you got.

Tbh, when listening to this kind of music I don`t expect anything from the lyrics :) It`s all about the hook, and as James said, I`m obviously not in the target audience :D

-Nice, catchy melody
-Cute singer, with a good voice (even though I could be her dad :D)
-Good sound/production/mix.

The hook....this song has one. The kind that makes it instantly recognizable. It's not really my thing, but it sounds good.

One thing for sure, if I heard it on the radio I'd think "what the hell amps are they using?" Great guitar tones.

Pretty sure my 7 yr old daughter will be the first in line  Great job James!!!

Guitars sound great...you managed to keep an "edge" that seems to go missing in a lot of modern productions. I listen to the vocal melody, not the lyrics, so all I noticed was that the hook was there and the vocals sat in the mix very well.
Great job...and this video is much better than the last one that you posted.

Sounds great!! As far as the lyical content, listen to Taylor Swift's lyrics...I only do because I have a daughter..This is what the younger audience wants. If she put this song out it would be a hit in a minute.
