Hey tubebury, I noticed you have alot of cabs with Scumback speakers in them. Are those basically a modded version of the speakers that normally come in a Marshall cab? I have G12-75 speakers in my Marshall JCM 900 cab. They sound ok but nothing that blows you away.

No, they're a completely different speaker. They're made for me on a proprietary basis by Weber VST.

Video of the M75's for you, with a Marsha at the LA AMP Show.

Awesome tones from that amp/cab!

I agree!!! I checked out the clip on my laptop and really liked what I heard. Definitely a step up from the celestions.

I keep going back to check that vid out. I am going frikkin' nutz for one of those naked cabs :inlove:

Those clips never do the speakers justice.

They sound "ok", but that means you miss out on about 50-60% of the tone from being in the room.

Sound about right to you, LP Freak?

Scumbacks are excellent bar none. I've been using them for what Jim, four years now?
And Jims pretty cool too. :inlove:

Yep, problem is you can't "feel" them on the clips.

How long was the turnaround time? I've had mine with him for awhile...sent a couple emails but I don't think he likes email much.

I think he's at about an 8 week turnaround time now.

Truth be told its 8 weeks "for the chosen few"

its a little different story for the rest of us mere mortals

I know I'm 1 of 2 unfortunate souls who have been waiting 4 months now and are still waiting

IMO Dave's mods are worth the wait so..... :worship:

yet it still grinds my gears how certain individuals can send in their amp a full month or 2 after me and then get it back while I'm still waiting endlessly :bash:

and to add insult to injury, I'm waiting on a single MTS Module not a freakin full blown amp

I thought someone mentioned a while back that Dave had other people working for him doing the mods while he busy doing other things like building his amps and running his company -

if thats true, theres simply no excuse for a 4 month or longer wait on a module

Ok now I found you. Your unit had no contact info in it of any kind and I had no email from you either so I had no idea what you wanted. I did all my mts stuff at least a month and a half ago but this one I could not do because again no info on it at all. So Its a plexi right and what do you need done????? Please email me with what you need and all your shipping and contact info. To anyone else out there please always make sure you send contact info with your unit and what needs to be done. Just cause you email me once does not mean I have your email. Also as far as mods go I am catching up and will have more out soon. Dave

Mod wait time is now quoted at 3 months. Sorry for anyone who has waited longer. The wait time may change back to shorter when I get caught up. As far as work load I have about 25 amps on order and around another 20 plus mods to do also. For 2 people this is still a lot.

Hey Dave, I'm glad I got my amps in earlier this year to have you mod them out! Even with the longer wait time, your work is worth it and will not disappoint! I'm glad to hear you are so busy, word is getting out on what great work you do... It's going viral! Brian

Dave, if you read this, I sent in the list of mods on an email, and then a second email after a short discussion with you. Would it be better to mail you what mods we finally arrived at so you have a hard copy to go with the amp?
thanks,
Jeff T

Yes, that is correct that I didn't include any info with the MTS plexi I sent you - I

assumed the PM I sent you on Jun 29th was sufficient information at the time

I know my post yesterday makes me come off sounding like a "whinny lil bitch" but as they say "the squeaky wheel gets the grease" and I now realize that other members with quicker turn around times on their modded amps were squeaking a whole lot more than I was in terms of emails & phone calls to you

For the record, I have noone to blame but myself for not including a hard copy noting the
mod request and my contact info with the Plexi Module

Hopefully someone will read this & learn from my mistake !

I just sent you a PM a few minutes ago with the mod request and all my contact info

Lastly, I just wanna say how awesome & cool it is that Mr Friedman takes the time
to personally & immediately address a matter like mine - a rare thing these days

long live Dave Friedman

I'm not going to speak for Dave but I don't believe that is true. I know several members (who I communicated thru PMs) that sent their amps before mine and my amp was completed faster. As I mentioned to those forum members, I would assume that the type of mod, amp, etc. determines the repair time. My amp was a Splawn mod prior to Dave getting it and he recommended me replacing everything as a whole rather than a fix here, a fix there because there were too many changes. Most likely the job was way quicker because of it.

I don't think you are being whiney, and understandably you would like your amp. One thing people have to realize though, Dave is a very busy guy. In addition to all of these mods he does, he has three different amps he is building from the bottom up. Additionally, he is creating racks and mods for musicians like Jerry Cantrell and Steve Stevens who are on tours, etc. The fact that we can communicate with him over the phone speaks volumes of his customer service.

I can tell you that his mods are worth every minute of your time and every dollar. He turned my amp into a monster. I run downstairs every night and fire that thing up, even if it is for 5 minutes. It is like taking a sleeping pill before I get to bed. :)

I don't care how many email/phone conversations I have with Dave (or anyone else). I always include a list of what I want done and my contact info just to be on the safe side and I've never had a problem.

I should get an invoice pretty soon hopefully... Monday I sent my amp to Dave back on August 2 can't wait!

I've found that order detail redundancy is fine just to make sure everyone is on the same page. Recent case in point.

Client emails me for a cab, says he loves the Bluesbreaker cloth, I said "Fine I have it in stock." Then I thought about it and emailed him to ask if he meant the Marshall Bluesbreaker reissue cloth or the Eric Collins Pinstripe Bluesbreaker cloth.

Of course he emails me back and said "Oh shit...the EC cloth!"

Needless to say that's $450 more and I didn't have that in stock. Now he's waiting an extra 3-4 weeks for the cloth he wanted. Good thing the order was only 2 days old at that time, but the details of being clear on your order, and providing MULTIPLE contact info is always good.

There was a guy who emailed me from England three weeks back. He included his phone #. For shits and grins (good ole S&G!) I figured out my Vonage phone prefix, international calling info and called him back five minutes after his email arrived. He freaked.

Needless to say, I canceled having 3-4 emails with the client with one 10 minute call.

Bottom line: document your mod/build/order, and provide lots of contact info!

I feel violated. You never reach out to me on the phone. Just lifeless email Jim.....
