Get a good clean platform and call it a day. Cant tell in the mix anyway, as long as it cuts through.

My friend has one of those Bogner pedals and said it is pretty amazing. I can't see that pedal sounding like a BE-100 but I'm sure it will sound badass. Everything Dave touches turns to tonal gold IMO. I'd love to have one of his amps. I dig the ASM-12 FRFR cab. I can't imagine having one of the tube amps.

Exactly. Do the bogner pedals make your amp sound just like an ecstasy? Of course not- but they sound and feel fuckin fantastic. Looking forward to trying Daves take on brown eye pedal.

I have an Ecstasy Classic and the Bogner Red pedal. The pedal comes very close. The feel is there and despite some small differences, the Bogner tone is there too. The better and cleaner the platform, the better it sounds.

I have no doubts that the Friedman pedal will be great. Played a PT and SS100 and both were great.

You have to be realistic- these are solid state pedals made to emulate tube circuits. It's just not going to nail the tone because it isn't the same. I don't think anyone truly believes that it can...not even the manufacturer. It would put an end to their amp lines.

But they can get you damn close...and for a couple hundred bucks at most. That's a lot of fun for the customer.

This video is relevant here... while the amp sounds fuller and better, you can't deny that the pedal is pretty damn close and might be able to be dialed in closer with more bass from the pedal. Lead wise, there is not that much difference. So I would say through a loop and into a tube power amp, the gap narrows:

Not sure how accurate that is. They don't look like there's room for a tube in there.

Since a stompbox with $20 worth of transistors != $2000+ amp with 4x12AX7 gain stages and 100W EL34 power amp, I am guessing it is pretty f'n far off.

I am about as far from a purist as it gets but you n00bs are deluded if you think these pedals can nail the tone of a boutique tube amp... these amp manufacturers making pedals are doing little more than cashing in on their rep for people who can't afford the good stuff. IMHO. I'd be more impressed if one of these guys had the nads to design a true SS preamp from the ground up and not name it after their amp you can't afford. But then, they would not be able to mark it up like crazy, so I doubt it'll happen.

I just don't think he would put his name on it if it sounds like shit, just sayin.. It might not be 100%, but it would have to be close. When it comes out, I'll be a test dummy, I have a BE, and I'll compare. If it sucks, I'll send it back.
