Maybe the point of pedals like these are for people that can't afford $3k amps...It's really that easy i don't see how everyone is missing that point.

If he nailed the BE-100 tone in a box he's gonna sell a billion of these things...
Since a stompbox with $20 worth of transistors != $2000+ amp with 4x12AX7 gain stages and 100W EL34 power amp, I am guessing it is pretty f'n far off.

I am about as far from a purist as it gets but you n00bs are deluded if you think these pedals can nail the tone of a boutique tube amp... these amp manufacturers making pedals are doing little more than cashing in on their rep for people who can't afford the good stuff. IMHO. I'd be more impressed if one of these guys had the nads to design a true SS preamp from the ground up and not name it after their amp you can't afford. But then, they would not be able to mark it up like crazy, so I doubt it'll happen.

The best part is that they are 100% made/built in the USA

Right, the pedal itself can't nail that sound. That's why they're designed to go into a clean tube amp. It becomes the preamp. They don't nail it but they come close. Think about it; a good preamp (even if it's solid state) into nice tube amp is going to sound good. I guarantee if I put up clips of my Ecstasy red channel and my red pedal into a Fender a lot of you wouldnt be able to guess which is which. Some of these pedals are getting pretty close. Even the feel is there.

Heard BE OD pedal today at NAMM through clean amp and this pedal is wicked. The best piece of gear I witnessed at NAMM 2016 so far..... Dave Friedman told me expects to release in 3-4 months with $199 price point.

Someone had posted that these were tube-driven pedals.

Not sure how accurate that is. They don't look like there's room for a tube in there.

The ones above aren't the tube driven pedals, these are

I've yet to hear a pedal into a clean amp sound (or feel) as good as a nice gained out actual amp. Even if Pete Thorn does a killer demo!

I have a Marshall Sl-X that I can't wait to run this OD through the effects loop.
As long as you have a comparable power section, it should be pretty damn close.

The pedals often sound constrained And more compressed through the input of a clean amp. I find the most ideal way is through the fx loop. That said, I think people are kidding themselves if they think these pedals will be miles ahead of say the Friedman designed preamp modules for the synergy line. It all comes down to price, you are in 900$ plus for a syn1 and preamp module and 200$ for the pedal. Going through the power section of a good tune amp, maybe you are happy enough. Friedman has very wisely put products in all price points in the market. Very impressed with what he is coming up with.

They say there no such thing as a dumb question but I'm guessing the tight pot on the be-od is to tighten up the low end ?
