Friedman preamp?

Hi Dave,
Just wondering with the modern gear available now like the Two notes stuff etc will you guys ever build a rack mount preamp? I'm guessing there'd be a huge market nowadays....
A clean, dirty Shirley and brown eye channel....

I know I'm not alone in this wish :rock:

Ok well how many of you would be interested in a preamp?? And in what format. 1 space, 2 space?What channels?? It's cab emulated out??
 
I think this could be really cool. 3 channel... Clean / BE / HBE with separate tone controls ( a la Randall RM4 but not necessarily modular ). Sort of a rackmountable full featured BE100 frontend. For me... either one or two spaces... wouldn't matter. The best quality sound would trump the convenience of making it smaller for me. Midi switchable would be awesome too!

Perhaps a matching power amp for those of us that may want to go digital in a bedroom studio environment but still be able to connect to a 4x12 when we play with others.

2 outputs... one to the cab emu like the Two Notes stuff and a poweramp out.

This sounds legit. But use the SS's clean channel. :rock:
 
A 2 space, 3 channel would be cool, first channel could be clean and minimal breakup and channel
2 could be a bluesy light crunch, and 3 could be ubergain satanic and focused.
 
2 space - 2 or 3 channel. Yup I'd absolutely buy immediately.

Voodoo amps had a killer 2 space 2 channel prototype they made for Vivian Campbell but the deal fell through and they never released it.

I loved the Mako Mak4 but that thing is outta control huge and he won't make any other scaled down versions of it.
 
Friedman BE100 with midi in, out, and thru for channel/ rack effects switching like a Triaxis. Voiced to pair with a VHT or Matrix power amp.

I'd buy one for sure. And I second the motion for a SS clean channel. It's friggin magical!
 
I would be very interested in a rack mount pre. MIDI is a definite plus. 3-4 Chanels, size is not really an issue as it would reside in a rolling rack.
 
A BE100 (so 3 ch ) with the add of a middle pot on the full clean channel , i would buy one immediately !
Yes midi would be great .
 
i would be very interested in a preamp pedal along the lines of the Bogner Ecstasy pedal range (4 channels... Clean / BE / HBE / Cantrell).
They would sell like hotcakes.......
 
I'd be down for a preamp. One or two spaces, clean and BE/HBE. Nothing too fancy.
 
After being unable to find the perfect power amp, I finally had one built that suits me - 2 EL34s / 2 5U4GBs / negative feedback pot / built-in variac / bias adjust pots. It truly is the perfect power amp for me. Now I'm searching for the perfect Marshall-influenced preamp, and luckily, I happened to stumble upon this thread.

I would be interested in a 3-channel preamp design with independent tone controls for each channel. Channel 1 would be the obligatory cleanish channel although I'm not looking for Fender clean here. I'm more interested in Dave's take on a JTM 45. The second channel would be the Plexi-influenced cruncher. And the third channel would be a scorching lead. The preamp would have to contain an effects loop. Size is of no consideration to me as my custom power amp is 3U. I must say that I am flexible on the channels - I would still buy one if Dave did a 2-channel preamp or a 4-channel (if I could afford the 4-channel).

I am quite sure that more enough people would be willing to pay up front - even if that meant waiting a few months for the finished product. Many of us will be getting our taxes back in a month or so, and I can think of no better way to spend the money.

I'm guessing that we Preamp-dreamers are looking at a price tag of @ $1,500 - $2,000. When one considers the price of used CAE 3+ is @ $1,500 or a used Bogner Fish at $2,000, then I believe $1,500 to $2,000 for a Friedman preamp would be very cool. So yeah, I guess what I'm saying is that $2 grand would be my personal limit.

If Dave is reading this, I would like to thank him for considering such an endeavor.
