Friedman preamp?

I ran into a good deal on an RM4 last week and had to snag it.

Bring on the MTS stuff!!

Bruce Egnater said something on some forum about revisiting the modular stuff in a not so distant future.

I smell something cooking... ;)

Correct. I saw an BE and HBE MTS module at the Friedman booth. Prototypes, I guess, along with Egnater's E2.

Slightly disappointed... I was hoping for an actual rack preamp.

What's not to like about being able to choose modules from Friedman, Egnater, Morgan, et al?
Want a Fender blackface clean - Egnater T/D.
Voxy? Egnater VX or Morgan AC.
Gainy stuff? Friedman, Egnater, maybe Marshall and others...

I promise you it's some very powerful stuff! I have the Egnater M4 myself and it's a great platform.

This seems to be speculation as noting has been officially announced but.... I'm excited all the same!

I have a Randall RM100 with an upgraded transformer mod from Dave. It's loaded with a Brown Eye (modded Plexi), Hairy Brown Eye (modded SL+) and a stock blackface module. I absolutely LOVE this amp! If a re-invented M4 is the surprise in store I think it's very exciting!

The Randall modules used to be able to be used on the Engager system. I hope (if this is the way Dave goes) this is still the case. I love my existing modules and would love to continue to use them... but would also like to see what may become available that possibly could be used in my existing setup as well... as a new recording preamp setup!

As far as a preamp loop.... wouldn't that be whatever you choose to put in the chain between the preamp and the power amp? You have to run cable there anyway.

Cant wait to see the big picture!!!

I believe, the Eganter M2 (2 slots) is designed to being plugged into the guitar and then distribute either to the power amp or pass the input to the amps input. So, it would be a real extension to every amp with a loop.

THIS

It is an actual preamp. What part are you missing?
Im sure he meant ie: a 2-3 space, 19" fully designed rack preamp that has the capability to stand on its own as a full blown pre.Such as; CAE se3+,Bogner Fish,Soldano x88r,x99, ect. ect...

People will want what they want I suppose. Unless you "get" the module approach, you may not realize it's what you want and more. I hope the Synergy line happens and there is a dual channel/dual EQ version of the BE, HBE, SS100 (clean & dirty) and all the others.

Obviously, if all you ever use is the BE channel, the modular approach might be more than you would need but for those that want options and midi controlled channel switching or those that flip amps every two weeks, modular makes a lot of sense. The 500 series preamps are working out pretty well for both consumers and the companies that produce them.

Just to get the facts straight, it is an actual preamp; just because part of the circuit can be removed from the chassis does not change it into something else!

Hey Dave... Still planning on adding a rackmountable preamp to your product list?

After 25 years I've pretty much settled on the egnater tol and the be100 as my desert island amps so if Dave and Bruce are doing some sort of collaboration I'm in like devil sin.
