Really been wanting to make this video for a while. I see a lot of talk online about the runt 50 not having enough gain to do metal, or just not being saturated in general.

This amp can get plenty mean, especially with the right boost and pickups. This video features me using 2 different guitars and kicking on 3 different boosts to show how the amp interacts with different amount did input signal.

This is my favorite Friedman to date, and lucky for me, it's by far the cheapest I've owned. Lol.

Hey, first off, your vids intro/editing/ and demos are getting sharp! Dig it. Also, goes to show that just about any decent tube amp with the right boost will do what you want. We all just love to buy $hit because it's fun to drop cash on stuff we play once a week for 20 minutes ... I think the runt sounds fantastic. Meaner than the BE..is that my imagination?

Thanks man! Working at getting a little better with each try.

Honestly, yeah. I feel the Runt 50 is the most Raw, natural and unpolished feeling Friedman I've played so far. Those are all the things that make me like it for my style. Seems to have a grain and a snarl to it that the others did not as well.

It also has the best price point of the Friedman stuff besides the 20 watters so that's a bonus for people who want that sound. The rawness and crunch is what I am always after and probably why I am a Marshall guy.

Definitely a great value on the used market.

That does sound good. There is one local to me that has been on CL for a while...this didn't help. And I should get a check soon from Uncle Sam that would cover about half of it. Must resist!

I listed mine on Reverb, and got cold feet. Pulling it from the Classifieds here, too..

I put some real-deal SED's in mine, and man does it love them! I ended up with Tungsols in V1&V2, a JJ ECC83S in V3, and a Sovtek LPS in V4. Scored another VFE Dragon, and its just beastly. The SED's really bloom with some volume, and gives it a much nastier disposition. I use an MXR 10-Band in the loop to add that bit of missing girth, and then it's certainly as aggressive as you make it. The great thing about the Runt is, it gets along with just about anything you hit the input with. It's an amp I learned to appreciate the magic of "less gain". Yeah, it needs a boost, and loves them all!

Another killer video, KB. You’re going places, kid.
