So i just picked up a Friedman Pink Taco and Dirty Shirly Cabinet. Ive played this head before and it seems to not be as bright as I remember. Im setting the amp with "plexi-esk" gain and using a stomp box to push it over the top. (being a single channel amp I want to be able to go from clean to dirty) I can't seem to find a solid distortion pedal i like. So far i have tired to Wampler Sovereign and Bogner Burnley but they just seemed to push the amp way to hard and muddy up the amp. I planning on trying the Suhr riot and Digitech Bad Monkey (heard great things about this cheap pedal with his amp) too see how it is. Does Anyone have any other suggestions for a kick ass pedal? Something to get good, old school Marshall Style grit like AFD, Rhoads, etc.

That amp should take pedals like a champ, but try using the pedals as overdrives instead if distortion boxes. I'd pull the distortion (gain, drive or whatever they label it) back to almost nothing and use the output to find the sweet spot ;)

What you need sir is a koko boost reloaded
Really want to pick this up, just haven't pulled the trigger yet! Amazing pedal.

The Pink Taco could really use a presence knob........I missed it when I had the amp for a little while.

agreed. That would really help my case. Wondering if i could have Dave mod the amp. Im not sure of anything i could put in front to brighten it up other that like an 808 or TS9 with the tone knob dimed. and even that is going to shift the tone.

Try the Bogner Wessex works well with the Small Box.

Exactly....It could use a presence knob and a Sat switch to justify the price IMO.....

Joyo ultimate drive. 40 bucks and very transparent. OCD clone, but a little different.

The Burnley and Riot aren't what I would call push boxes. I would check out a Bondi Sick AS or a Wessex.

I played one a while back at GC and threw a Green Rhino in front of it sounded good. The Green Rhino is an uber flexible TS 808. you could always throw an EQ in the loop also might help.

I'm liking mine with a modded Marshall. EP Booster might work for you too as it adds some top end also. Might add that presence 'sparkle' that you are missing.

Start cheap. Bad Monkey for 808 style boost, boss SD1, or Dano fish and chips for eq.
No need to spend $$$ on botique without knowing what you like to use as a boost.
Set drive low and level high.

I thought I read a thread on here not to long ago where a bunch of people were saying the Koko Reloaded pushed to many Db's?

I've been looking at the Pink Taco, but I'm going to wait till Dave comes out with the new one & see what he has planned for it.

Just got an email back from Dave. Im having it modded for a presence knobs and I am retubbing / Biasing the amp to EL34s. Also picked up the Bad Monkey. Saw Phil X seems to enjoy it.

I'm really interested to hear what the EL34's sound like in it.

Cleaner & pushed should be right as rain.
