I was looking at the YJM isn't it also using diod clipping? I want to get away from any EQ curve that "overdrive" pedals seem to create.
I don't want to shape the tone so an EQ might add another level of complexity when I just want a clean transparent boost to "hot" up my single coil guitars. Preferably thickening things up without adding any distortion

The VFE Focus looks very interesting.... how does it perform as a clean boost?

Not sure if you have an fx loop but any guitarist who does that has not tried an eq is doing themselves a disservice.
