Use the 120 and 60 side by side using the same cab other gear. I did for a few days and prefer the 120. They do sound different.

IIRC the circuit around the PI is a little different. The 60’s get’s hit a little harder while the 120 not so much. So the 60 may sound a little more aggressive or raw.

"Difference between the D60 and D120 is the driver stage. The 120 has a 2-tube driver/PI stage similar to the UL. The 60 has the single stage like the CLX. Preamp voicing is the same, but because of the difference in output and driver stage, the 60 sounds more pissed off compared to the 120 which sounds more like a bulldozer coming down your street."

If I understand correctly the Series II has the same phase inverter in the 60 and 120.

I've never played an older D120 but would like to. I owned a Series II D120 and Series II D60 and didn't like the new D120 much at all. It was just too open and I love an open gain structure. It also lacked saturation and was very dark until you cranked the treble presence which I don't mind doing, but doing so just made it sound really harsh. The Series II D60 I liked more than the D120, but it still wasn't a keeper.

The Older VHT era D60 I owned years ago killed as does the '07 I have now. Top 5 for me easy.
What do you like better about the OG D60 vs D60II? I ordered a new one from GC to try out against my Synergy Deliverance/2150 rig. It sounds amazing but the grass is always greener.

The '07 I have now is capable of more saturation and grit. It also has a more unique voicing I feel. I just remember the Series II being a bit neutral sounding...not as much character.
