am contemplating on a new amp and have thought if it would be imprudent of me to mod a Fryette deliverance to a cali fortin or his hulk mod? kindly advice... and what are the features available ?

My question is why mod an amp that sounds SOOO good in its original state???

Man, for real, my D120 is the amp I judge all others by. Best tone I've ever had and I've owned some decent damn gear.

reason is i need a metal amp and cali or hulk mod seems to captures my ears ... thus am able to getta nice deal for a deliverance than a marshall 2033 which usually the case for modification.. been trying to look for a UL or CLX at nice deal but none pops out yet..

Deliverance needs no help doing metal. From Classic to Death it can hang.

despite of the plexi headshell and simple controls, the deliverance is quite different from a marshall
I'm sure mike could mod it, but it would be a custom job, not those famous mods

if you really want the fortin tone, this might be worth it, but the deliverance is already a metal amp by nature
the only mod I would do is making it accept el34's
can't live without those mids

ill check out deliverance in stores.. but am hoping for UL or CLX...

The Deliverance is one of, if not, my favorite amps of all time.

Mike isn't modding so that should make it easy for you.

Never played a Deliverance but I always hear great things about them. Sounds to me from these other guys' posts that it will get you into metal territory pretty quick.

Or, the Randall Thrasher by Mike Fortin hits the streets in June and it will most definitely get you there!

thanks anyway... yeah would wanna check deliverance out..

Hmmm, how is using a Deliverance for a modding platform that much more of a travesty than a vintage Marshall?
Stock Deliverance is a great amp, like any stock Plexi. Tons of folks still seem to prefer the aftermarket changes though.

How many folks here still actually own and play their Deliverance?

If you need to MOD the Deliverance to do metal I'd say that the amp just isn't for you. Find something you already like the voicing of.

You might be surprised if you were to A/B a 100w pitbull vs. the ultra lead.

Eh? The UL is also a Pitbull, no?

Only reason I don't is because I needed a more expansive feature set. Footswitchable loop and, yeah, even channel switching, were important to me.

That amp could do metal. Put an OD/boost in front and it was capable of any heavy genre. Surprisingly versatile... was getting amazing BSSM and even Hendrix-y tones with a Strat on the less gain option. I don't know why anyone would want to mod that amp. The reason people mod Plexi's is because they weren't capable of true/modern high gain. It was a reaction to Boogie and the other "boutique" high gain manufacturers.
