I recall seeing a few Power Station's on YouTube and here that were modded. I can't recall exactly what the mod was affecting, I think it was either high pass filtering or presence. I'm going to be getting a PS in soon, and I was curious if anyone here has personal experience with this mod, and/or schematics or directions for doing it? Or am I wasting my time and it's not really that beneficial?

I never heard the modded one, but I had one without it. The mod lets you remove a low pass filter. In some amps I didn't mind the little bit of top end the low pass filter trimmed - you could get some of the top end back with the eq switches and power amp controls. However, it would really depend on whether the frequencies they're at play nicely with your amps' voicing. For what it's worth, with my Marshalls I thought it sounded great. But I had a couple of other amps where it was a little more touch and go since the frequencies of the switches and presence didn't seem as well suited to them. If I were to give another one a whirl, I would definitely go with a modded one.

Just an FYI - Fryette added the option to bypass the low pass filter to the new Power Station 2.

The new version covers every base a person needs if not more.

I did notice that, but I found a good deal on a used version 1 though. And I didn't start thinking about the mod until after it had already shipped.

My two heads at the moment are modded Marshalls, so fearhk123's post leads me to believe it may not be necessary for me anyway.

Still would like to hear any personal experiences with someone who has owned a modded PS or the new one with the switch. I'm assuming it's not a terribly intensive job for a tech to add in the Low Pass Filter bypass switch to version 1?
