Anyone stop by the Fryette booth @ NAMM? Any updates or new gear? I'm curious if there were any Pittbull or Sig:X happenings.

Pics on their Facebook page. Looks like they had an UL and Sig:x there. I think they'll build you an Ultralead, but haven't heard any news on the Sig:x.

I spoke with Fryette right around the 1st of December. They are still building Ultraleads.

A while ago there were rumors of a Deliverance II. Actually, I may have seen something of the like on their website at one point...anyone got any leads?

Yeah that was certainly a while back.

Man, Steve is a genius. Between what he did back in the day to his amps themselves and the cool things like the Power Station, it is really a shame that Fryette isn't as big as the Peavey and Mesa type companies.

Not sure how many they sell these days but I don't seem to hear about them much these days.

I havent heard an ETA for Deliverance 2, updated SIg:x, or the LXII power amp.

Yep. THey are unfortunately kind of falling behind. They need something to get them back in the spotlight, either with a big artist endorsement or a product that really makes a difference in the market. I don't think a Deliverance 2 or even an Ultra Lead 2 would do it. It's like the brand itself has become "stale" in the market place. Just to add, I'm a huge Fryette fan and it's what I see as a customer from my eyes.

The Ultra Lead and CLX are TERRIFIC amps, but they are what? 25 years old now? I'm sure they sold well years ago and there is nothing wrong with a company sticking with a good selling product over a long time period, but at this point those amps have been around for so long that I'm sure their sales have dropped off and is why they are now "build to order."

IMHO, what they need is a market changing product, and/or a new amp that becomes endorsed by a big act. That would light a fire in their brand name again.

I've never played an Ultralead. But I want to. I really do. I played a Deliverance 60 once, like I dunno... 10 years ago at a GC. I liked it. But no FX loop was a deal breaker.

It seems the Power Station has the potential to be that product. From the right angle, you could argue that every guitarist needs one, as it fulfills so many needs and can accomplish many different tasks. As we all know, there is a huge shift happening in the industry towards low stage volume, silent recording, and bedroom tonez, and in addition players are getting more and more excited about all these awesome modelers and IRs. If anything, the Power Station lands right in the middle of this arena, with the exception of modelers which are taking a huge portion of the market sales as an all-in-one solution.

I'm not a modeler guy, but I embrace their presence for achieving great tone and flexibility. I think there will always be players that place more value in a high end tube amp, or at least loading one down into a DAW, and that is why I think Fryette could still make a huge comeback with another amp release. Deliverance II with 2 channels, effects loop, midi, and a built-in reactive load a la power station!

Every time I talk with the people at Fryette they tell they are so busy they are having a hard time keeping up. It's not like they are lacking business.

I feel like Fryette is center stage in the spotlight due to the immense success of the Power Station and now the GPDI is getting attention. He's also been redesigning the Sound City brand which is probably taking a considerably amount of his time from designing amps for Fryette. He's not blowing anyone away with traditional amplifiers, but he's doing great things that are getting talked about.

While I sent mine back as I discovered I didn't "need" it, the Power Station is a great little machine, and in an unlimited income situation, I'd definitely had kept it.

Yep, same here. I bought one to try with my 5153 and found that while it had excellent transparency and achieved that cranked tone with ease, there was still a subtle blanketing effect. It re-confirmed the fact that the 5153 master volume is excellent...so I sent it back, but would have kept it if I had money to spare.

The GPDI sounds awesome in the demos I have heard, I just wish it had a footswitch. I realize it's more of a studio device, but to me that's a tough limitation to swallow. Pairing it with a Power Station is super tempting...

Fryette has making the Pitbulls /UL, etc.... One at a time when people order them ten or twenty years. This is nothing new.

Not true. I've seen them stock back in the day.The last few years yes though.

There are only 4 people working there and I believe they are all in laws. Their business model and support suck bad when I needed help with my 2/90/2. Still blows tubes every 2 months and given a clean bill of health by Steve himself. Yeah right. Good sound, bad company.

I had a 2-90-2 that kept red-plating tubes on one side but it was intermittent. When I took it to a tech to have it checked out he found a resistor that had not even been soldered on, so when the metal was touching it worked fine when it vibrated away the tube would overheat.

Aside from that I would have no issues buying anything from Fryette. I have owned a UL for a few years now and it's one of my top 3 favorite amps.

Steve has always treated me right. Never had a single issue with the D120, 2/90/2 or my Power Station 2. The Power Station alone is so helpful when used with the right amp. I have a Komet klone that would be unusable without that piece of gear. Its brilliant.
