FS: Egnater EG3/4 Module

I've decided to keep the MHG module as I lean towards darker tones so the EG3/4 will go since I have an EG5 coming with the M4.

I assume you're gonna mod that w/ the 250pf cap. I love the EG3/4 w/ the 1000pf -> 250pf cap change. Opened it up and makes it growl!

The top end. Still is dark, crunchy, smooth, and such, but takes a bit of the "blanket affect" off of the EG3/4, but still keeping that "smokey flavor"

The only EG3/4 I modded is the one that is in my M4 right now, so no. I bought a second EG3/4, because I wanted to give it another whirl w/ the mod. I'm damn glad I did!!!

Valtiel, it's the large 1000pf cap on the vertical Tube Board. Pretty easy to get to.

I'm good at soldering, but not desoldering. I opted to clip out the old one, remove the legs one at a time, and then carefully work the new one in, little by little, one leg at a time.

Took all of 15 minutes, but you gotta be really steady. Don't even try to do it with a big soldering iron. I got a pencil point 15 watter from radio shack that worked great.

Awesome, thanks Nick! Im pretty handy with an iron, ive built a few pedals. Ive got that cool digital soldering station from Radio Shack, works like a charm for small stuff.

dude you seriously need a desoldering pump.. that should have only take 30 seconds

I picked up some caps today, my amp tech said that he thought that going from 1000pf to 250pf would darken up the module, unless it was being utilized in a way he wasnt familiar with in the circuit. I wouldnt want the EG3/4 any darker. I'll have to experiment a bit to see.

It definitely doesn't darken up the module. This was done by word from Bruce / Jeff, who know the circuit inside out . I trust when they say, smaller caps in this circuit will add a little bit treble / bite to the circuit. That's what it did for me and Nick, so you have 2 people that have done it with good results!
