OCD vs. BB Preamp:

I know they are different pedals. But here's the scenario:

1. You've got one slot left on your pedalboard.
2. You've already got good distortion and overdrive sounds
3. You want to add that special touch and you can only pick between these 2 pedals.

What's your take and why?

I'd chose the OCD. I have a BB but never use it like I do the two OCD's on my board. I really need to try out a TIM/TIMMY.

What's the deal with the Timmy??? I keep hearing about this pedal. Who makes it? Who sells it?

I like them both. I had a v4 OCD, but ulitmately I sold it since the BB is my favorite. It beats every OD pedal I've ever compared it to.

Paul C. You have to call him to order at this time. There is a few month wait still on the pedal. A few dealers have the Tim and Timmy. The Tim is a Timmy with a boost. Like Dave said they are great pedals, very transparent and work with alot of amps. I like to use my Timmy with my Vox AC50 and Fender Brown Super. Works well with my mesa Mark IV too.

Of the 2 you are looking at, I would go with the BB preamp, just based on clips of the OCD and BB preamp. I have long wanted to try out a BB preamp.

I am also a big fan of the hermida Zendrive. Alf just released a special edition version that is getting great reviews. If you want a Dumble type sound, that is the pedal to get.

I haven't used my BB since I got my Majik Box Rocket Fuel RF-1. I'm telling you guys...this box freaking RAWKS!

Are you using that as a boost or as an overdrive into a clean amp?

I use the Boost, OD and combination of both into the XTC crunch channel.

There's alot of love for the 'Flying Dragon' on the Splawn boards. They have a thing called the 'tourbox' where you sign up to get on a list and it'll be sent to you for one week to try out. I'm on the list and should be my turn in a few weeks

here's the link....

I have an OCD v3 and it's pretty cool, nice fat tone...almost too fat

I still have and love my v1 OCD, I HAD a BB pre amp

Fulltone more for the distortion side for a overdrive i say BB

I kniow I am a fanboi, but they really sound great, don’t change the tone and are versatile. They work great in front of both high gain and low gain amps!!!

I have a BB that I never use.

I know I have asked you some questions on this one in the past. If a gun was put to your head for a decision, which one would you go with if you could only have one? The Timmy would most likely meet my needs but the boost feature on the Tim really adds some versatility. Choices, choices!

I love my BB for med crunch rhythm into the clean channel of my Mesa Lone Star Classic.

Xotic has new loaded versions of thier pedals out now that may do what you need and more!

Do you mean the BB+. From what I've heard and read, it's not as good sounding as the regular BB. As soon as they came out they were all over TGP classified section.

I own both.

The OCD
1) great for marshally tones with harmonic content. Bright, yet full as a boost. Sometimes I think it has some muddy low end, but get over it fast

The BB
1) Smooth, thinner sounding, yet has that feel. like it will sustain for days. Not as gainy sounding as the OCD, but killer for leads.

Both have their place. The OCD works great in front of my Carvin Legacy to give it more bite, While the BB smooths out my Splawns brightness.

Depends on the amp.
