New YouTube video ... recorded with the Fortin Bones with the Xotic BB preamp out front for a little extra zing ... Digitech Timebender delay ... and of course my Suhr Modern. Hope you enjoy it!

You, my friend, are a badass!!!

Coming out to NAMM again this year?

Wow, sounds so juicy ! Did you have the coils split or the middle single PU on ?

I dig those licks man. Very jazz based it seems. Where'd you get alot of your ideas from? I really like the phrasing!

Thanks tweed :) ... yes, I will be at NAMM this year. Likely demoing at the Tech21 and Digitech booth. Also may be doing a show for Electro-Voice, possibly at the House of Blues. I might actually be in CA the week leading up to NAMM with shows and clinics in San Francisco and LA. If so, will post the dates here.

I do flip around on the pickup selector ... but for leads, much of the time I use the neck pickup. I actually swapped out the Aldrich neck and bridge for the Suhr DSV pups. (Suhr's PAF style ... lowest output they make) Was very interesting to hear the tonal differences between super hot pups and the lower output DSV's ... both are cool ... this video has the DSV neck, which is primarily what you're hearing ...

dude, that was so killer! I gotta get an audio version and learn some of that  !

Hi Rob - Thanks for the compliment ... As far as building those types of lines, a lot of that kind of thing is influenced by the traditional jazz players like Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Coltrane ... and as far as electric guitarists ... I would reference Mike Stern, Scott Henderson, Robben Ford. Also some more of the rock fusion guys like Steve Morse, Eric Johnson ... and although I don't hear much direct blues reference in his playing, Allan Holdsworth. Mix that all up with SRV, Albert King, BB King ... I try to blend of all I've heard ... well ... that's the idea anyways. It's an ongoing project.

If you'd like some specific album references ... let me know.

The lesson is on "Fusion Blues" ... where I go through some licks and ideas for this kind of playing! Please check it out when it's posted .... if you like it ... let Guitar World know!

Awesome!
Remind me man. I like to take sequences and kind of use my own notes and rythym and put it into a new shape. Not riff stealing, but getting ideas from sequences... like string skipping riffs and arpeggio tapping etc... I like seeing how other people think in contrast to how my little brain works. Definitely loving the licks though..!

You have such insane chops.

I would love to try your instructional, but it would probably just sail right over my head.

I especially like the licks from after .20 to around .27 seconds.

Do those style of licks have names..or is it just string skipping, and could you suggest some songs to learn some licks like that ?

"AHHHHH!!!!!" That was great.

Also, your playing, and tone were great too. And I absolutely love your note selection and phrasing. Super tasty.
