Well, Im losing volume and I know my tubes are old so but I did some tinkering today

I just finished wiring my pedalboard and thought I had a bad connection at first. I unplugged everything and went guitar>amp. Still losing volume though

So today I put it in 50w mode and it seemed to have volume back. But when I was doing this I bypassed the FX loop and it lost a bit of volume by doing this. I never had the loop bypassed because I always have used the loop. I went back and forth and each time I engaged the loop it sounded fuller and fatter. Even the +10/-4 buttons also effected the tone just by switching them either in or out...with nothing in the loop

Does this seem right?? For some reason I thought my tone would sound fatter/fuller with the loop bypassed

it's probably not at unity gain , so it's probably just adding a little bit of volume, does it have the level control ?

No level control. Just sounded deeper and fuller when the loop was engaged. I thought it would be the opposite

until you have the volume up around 9 o'clock it's going to sound thin. Check your power tubes if switching to half power fixed the problem. You may have taken the faulty tube out of the picture when you switched to have power.

On my 2006' QR, if I engage the loop when the Master is below 9:00 O'clock, it gets a little louder, but it sounds thinner and brighter. Once the Master is turned up, it is very difficult to tell the difference whether the loop is on or not.

My volume was up, that's the thing. I was probably at 8:30-9:00 and I could hear a significant change in tone when switching all these buttons (fx loop/ +10-4). All sounded better with the fx loop engaged

Maybe Im way over thinking this? Im just wondering if something is wrong with my fx loop?

I also get a loud popping when I'm turning off and on standby

ok then, I probably just didnt have it up loud enough

Check my other question about the popping ^^^^

Yours do this?

Most amps pop a bit when you turn them off. Even if they were off at standby. Its the caps discharging into the circuits.
