So I posted a topic here yesterday asking about G&L guitars and the quality, because it just seems like the price is too low for what they build. I was basically trying to find anything negative I could online to justify the low price and couldn't find anything. I think it's maybe because they're not as well known and not many artists use them. (Jerry Cantrell being the main guy). Either way, I just went into my local music shop and played the one I'd been eyeing online and damn... the guitar was an instant winner over a Suhr Modern and a Fender American Deluxe. The neck just felt super comfortable and those MFD pickups have a massive sound that's almost humber like, but still have that single coil sound. The one I got is swamp ash capped with a 1/4 inch flame maple top that I'm pretty sure is a book matched top, or pretty damn close. Also has actual pearl dot inlays on a dark rosewood fretboard and the hard-rock maple neck looks like it came from a piece of wood. Overall, I still can't get over how I walked out paying only $1600 bucks for this guitar. Only thing I might do is throw in some Bareknuckle pickups like a Sinner or Irish Tour set, but I'm gonna jam with the MFD's for a while before I do. If you're wondering whether or not, these guitars are worth it, take my word, they freakin are!

Nice and glad you dig. My g&l gas comes and goes and just came
Back. How's the bar affect tuning? I read where some people have had issues. I have an american deluxe that stays in tune great. Love it, but the g&l colors and prices keep me interested.

You know, I rarely use the bar and it usually isn't even in, I just had it in for the picture. It's not too bad tho. I did do a few dive bombs when I was testing it out and it seemed to go back in tune just fine. Yea, it's funny that a Fender American Deluxe (or the ELITE series now) go for almost 2K new and most of the time you get a 3 piece alder body, hardly any custom options and simple hardware. With the G&L I got here, I got swamp ash with a nice flame top, hard rock maple, real pearl dot inlays, a bone nut, and superb hardware and electronics in a nice G&G custom case for $1600 new.. the value here is insane. My only and ONLY real gripe is the way the middle pickup interferes with my style of picking and due to the height of the pickup and how it sits in the body, there's barely any room for adjustment. I may go with a set BKP Cobra blades soon to allow for adjustment and overall get a heavier sound. Don't get me wrong tho, the MFD stock pickups sound really nice and thick. I just wish they didn't sit so high in the body.

Congrats man! Like I said in the other thread, my ASAT USA model wins out over most all of my guitars. Built incredibly well. I was going to ask about the trem as well as I am not normally a trem guy. I usually just block them but have lately been toying with the idea of unblocking 1 or 2.

G&L is outstanding and underrated. I love their guitars. Congratulations, it's a beauty.
