So I've been thinking about getting a super strat or making one for a good while now and one I never see or hear of being replicated is Lynch's original Tiger.

Any of you guys ever try it?

I know Kramer and LTD used to make them but I'd rather choose the body myself and do it myself. I like the idea of assembling a super strat and making it my own.

This is just in theory. I'd love to replicate DeMartini's Cross Swords Charvel too but that seems like a bitch to attempt

Most likely going to spray paint the body with amber nitro; maybe over a flame top.

GMW's website might be a good starting point

Good call man.

I think sans the Floyd/Pickups etc. I'm going for cheap bodies and cheap necks. Basically trying to slap a road warrior together.

My Les Paul is beat to hell but I need a backup.

Aria made a Tiger striped shredder that you can occasionally find used. Made in Japan, good guitars, not too spendy.

this guy shows you how to do it with spray paint etc...
I think Steve (sah5150) here on rigtalk is his neighbor...I think Steve mentioned that once.

Thanks man.

I've assembled guitars and have painted in the past included full refins but this would be my first Super Strat for myself. Gonna check this out regardless

There's always some sort of half assembled or stripped Charvel/Warmoth etc. body on Fleabay as well. I like how Warmoth offers a mod to get the neck tighter in the pocket too. They call it the 720 mod.

On ebay as well, there's a Tiger decal set that can be placed on the front and clear coated over. I think that's cheating though

George's original Tiger, thee Tiger was a 13 lb solid Maple body he picked out outta a pile of scraps at the Charvel works in the early 80's.

The weight of the guitar has caused him back problems for years and he hardly plays it anymore because of that.

Correct on the original tiger, just a mutt guitar, but he still plays it all the time, he doesn't tour with it but always plays it in his studio and videos, he had to put a ESP sticker on it. The guitar in the above Picture is a Charvel tiger with a Kahler locking nut, just right before he went to Kramer for a short time.

A Provincetown thrift store.

In all seriousness, I'm thinking about just getting a Basswood/Poplar body and doing some sort of opaque finish and allowing time to take it's toll on it.

Lynch actually painted his original Tiger himself....back in '78 I believe.

I don't know, I think this guy has got Lynch beat.

That's the thing too. Lynch has stated in several interviews that he painted it then Karl Sandoval painted it etc. The former seems believable given that George has his Mr. Scary guitars that he assembles himself.

Whatever the case, it's an awesome finish. Loving the recent photos where the finish is checked to hell too.

The exact vid I was going to post. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah Lynch didn't use that guitar much in the early Lynch Mob days, but it has been one of his 2 main guitars the past few years in the studio and on the road (the other being the GL56).

I have one of the LTD versions, the 600 series with the OFR and Screamin' Demon. Body is 'supposed' to be maple, but sure doesn't feel as heavy as the ESP Kami guitars.

If you want a real Lynch Tiger, do what Lynch did and build one yourself! One of these days I'll build one, and hopefully get the nice finish cracks like his!

Just paint it, wrap it in a blanket before paint cures, jam it into the cargo hold of a plane, and fly to Iceland.

Haha.

Or you could take it into a walk in cooler and then come back out and watch the wonder unfold before your eyes
