G-Major 2 - Jesus, am I alone or is this crazy confusing?

OK, I've built several computers, been playing guitar for over 20 years and been using (basic) MIDI stuff for decades. I've been using a Line 6 M9/Mini Amo Gizmo as a MIDI switcher/multi effects unit for about three years and just recently bought a G-Major and Voodoo Ground Control Pro to replace it. I can't get my head around this interface to save my life. I want to use 2 or 3 effects at a time and switch my amp channels--AAAAAAGH!!

I don't really get how to switch between factory and user presets, but it's pretty easy to just edit whatever preset you are on, adding or taking away effects and their intensity levels.

Thing is crazy easy, you can't make a preset from scratch... you edit existing patches then save them to the user bank...

Just click on an effect "square" once to turn it on and once to turn it off... double tap that same square to edit the effect... then store, really really simple unit once you understand how it works, one of my favorite things about it... trust me units get WAAAAAY more complicated than a Gmajor...

The GM2 is easily the most useless pile of junk I have ever purchased. Terribly constructed, glitchy and temperamental, confusing to program. Save yourself the headache, get rid of it and get something else. After a ton of issues, several returns and "repairs" I eventually sold mine to a guy I share a space with for $75. I watched it power off on him on stage two nights ago. He knew it had issues, he hates it too, said it wasn't even worth $75.

You would think after all the problems with the GM1 that TCE would have made the GM2 rock solid, easy to use and so on but nope. Anyways, enjoy the headaches.

Yeah I think my issue is more with the Ground Control Pro actually. I have figured out how to dial in what I want on the GM2 but I can't for the life of me figure out how to store it in the GCP. I go to Setup Mode but besides typing in "GM2" I am completely lost. How do I set/assign/store a damn preset?

I dont know if this helps as I dont have a TC electronic G Major but I do use Voodoo lab GCP and when I want to store a preset from my eventide I cannot do it from the GCP I have to hit the save button on my eventide it then stores the preset to the GCP the eventide preset then shows up on the GCP and if I am using pedals etc I use a programmable loop which is activated by the IA buttons on the GCP
so I would try using the save function on the G Major and see if that then saves the preset on the GCP also you should make sure you have made the GCP recognise the G Major otherwise it will not work with it.

The GCP was my first real attempt with midi and as I am the local village idiot it took me a week to get my GCP to work fully with my gear and I had to reread the manual constantly until I figured it out but now its indispensible and I cannot find anything it cannot do its very flexible . good luck with it.

Are you going MIDI Out from the GCP to MIDI In on your Eventide?

How do you choose where your preset ends up on the GCP?

How do you know whether or not the GCP recognizes the Eventide?

Thanks!!

It is Midi out from the GCP and when I use the save function on my eventide it saves on the GCP as the next sequential number so...
if it is the first time you save a preset then that will be saved as bank 1 preset 0 on the GCP and the next preset you save will be bank 1 preset 1 and the next would be bank 1 preset 2 and so on
I would need to read the manual re getting the GCP to recognise a processor but its pretty straight straightforward but it must be done for the systems to work together
