Hey Y'all

Was maybe thinking of picking one of these up and just wondered what the lowdown was on these,

Fire away

2 weeks ago we discussed the GMajor and its alternatives on the amp forum... Might be worth reading.. http://www.rig-talk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=422

I really like how my GMajor sounds and the available features, but after being on the road for about 2 weeks the parameter (outer) dial fell off and wouldn't stay on, and the center knob on he right broke off as well... In other words, it didn't seem road worthy.

Maybe it's just me, but I found Rocktron units always a pita to tweak. Soundwise I'd say the g-major has a better delay, reverb and pitch shifter, while I prefer the modulation effects of the Xpression (warmer sounding). Builtwise the Xpression seems to be sturdier, the g-major ain't got a good reputation when it comes to built quality (BUT: I never had a problem myself, using it for more than 4 years).

If you need a unit which can switch the channels of your amp, the g-major would be your choice, because the Xpression can't do this. Overall I prefer the g-major, because I love the delays and find it easier to use. Maybe a used Rocktron Replifex or Multivalve could also be interesting for you.

Maybe this is the wrong thread to ask this question, but what could i use to obtain some atmospheric effects? I already have a G Major, but can't seem to make it do what I want to do yet. Although I've only had it for a few days. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

Jeff
