I know some guys on here have them and I might be getting one soon depending on a couple things. Main gig I play lead guitar and do a lot of backup vox, and hate having to do multiple stomps to get from heavy rhythm sound to lead sound with or without fx like whammy etc. while singing. I want to be able to do one stomp to do this. I know ideally that requires some sort of GCX/bradshaw type setup but the gsystem would provide me with high quality FX and it is supposed to be able to switch amp channels and external FX. The xtc's loop runs better with line level gear anyways, so I'd ditch a few pedals if I went this route.

The XTC is not midi tho, so I would need either the medusa cable or some sort of midi switcher from axcess electronics it looks like. Any ideas on this?

I switch the XTC with the RG16 from RJM Music, awesome switcher, great buffer, etc.... You would have additional loops on the RG16 and the G System for any pre and post effects. The G System Loops are Serial and after the first DAC conversion so the RG16 would give you more control of stuff in front of the amp. If you use the 4 cable method you can get the most out of the G System but will have to struggle with getting levels setup, after that all would be good. Hope that helps some.

Thanks, am checking out the RJM stuff right now, seems like the amp gizmo might work too?

Yes the amp Gizmo would work and if you do not need the additional 8 loops would be less expensive. The Bogner cable is like $42 for either RJM product to switch it.

Dave Friedman recommended and is putting the RJM RG16 in my rig. He highly recommended it!

i use a G/System for my effects and amp switching with no problems at all..

And you're using an xtc classic too, right? How much did you guys get your rg16s for?

With an xtc?

A Splawn Quickrod ands its not midi.... :)

Unfortunately the XTC has a 7 pin DIN so I don't think the G-system could switch all of its functions on its own without an external switcher like the rjm/axess etc.

That build is a Egnater MOD100 and a rack with a FISH/M4 combo.

Dave sells the rg16's for $599

Which one?

The Hawaiian artist Dave Friedman, or the composer Dave Friedman, or the fix-what's-wrong-with-government Dave Friedman, or the fifteen year old Dave Friedman or the eighteen year old Dave Friedman, or the legendary film pornographer Dave Friedman, or maybe the economic journalist Dave Friedman, or the anarchist-anachronist-economist Dave Friedman?

David (not Dave)

It can be done,i checked on the tc electronic support page for wiring up to 7 pin DIN amp connections and people have done it..

the switching relays have 16 options..

why not use medusa cable? i know friends of mine had great success with it.
i love my g system based rig, ultimate in easy switching AND great success, just make sure to SPEND TIME SETTING UP THE LEVELS! all guys who bitch about the system sucking tone and sounding like shit did not take the time to make the unit right. you must spend time with this thing, its not a pull out of the box and go to the gig unit.

I totally agree with everything said here. I was told the Medusa cable was not being made anymore but it would work perfectly. The RG16 is a great solution if you need additional loops and amp switching for amps with the special cables. I wanted it to use with my Eventide and misc pedals in front of the XTC and it is working great. I wanted the extra loops and liked the 4 serial 4 parallel approach they use, as well as a super good buffer. IMHO the G System did not suck much if any tone at all once it was setup properly I just sold it to get the Axe FX which is comparable in effects IMHO but then got the XTC and Eventide and said bye to the Axe FX and have never been more happy with the switching and tones I am getting.

Good luck with your choice.

Other guitar player in the band lent me his g-system to use, got home late from practice last night so just about to plug it in now, will post my initial thoughts later. Don't have a way to switch channels on the xtc with it yet, but very interested to see what this thing can do.

Well had to break out the manual to figure some things out, lol. But so far, very impressive, seems really transparent. Gotta mess with it a bunch more, but seems like a powerful tool.

quick tip for truest tone. turn boost function on all the time, turn maximum level of boost to its max (10db i think) now it should be completely the same level as before without g system.
