What a bunch of monster players. I'd love to be that fluid in my playing.

gambale holdsworth lane guthrie landau ej

they have magic powers

Wow. There's a reason I bought his instructional VHS (lol) years ago...like 88! I still have it somewhere..ha ha

He was great back in the 80's, especially in the movie Arthur.

Amazing, all of them
Who's playing the drums on that? The guy is killing it the whole time

This thread reminds me of this tune.

I actually think Brett Garsed just nailed it, of course Shawn Lane was awesome as well.

i saw that line up of the chick correa electric band at the catalina bar and grill many moons ago and hung out with gambale between sets. i told him he and holdsworth were the two best pkayers on the planet and he said holdsorth was his hero too but his music was so uncompromising that it was a bit selfish because he can't or doesn't want to relate to pop music. you want the world to know how genius the guy is but they'll never get to hear his disconnected music until maybe years from now because he is so ahead of his time.

drummer is dave weckl and is my second fave to vinnie colautia.

zachman and i saw gambale the first month he came to the states (85) playing a random gig at my colege in fullerton with jeff berlin band and were like "who the crap is this guy and how is he sweeping like that!!??"
played a pink strat and boogie combo.
we also saw scott henderson with john luc ponty a few weeks later. across the street from my dorm and back then he was playing like holdsworth.

amazing times and so cal was the place to be to see heroes up close rewriting the rules.

I bought the Chopbuilder. It really improved my picking and endurance.

Very cool video. Frank looks like 'Mike' from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. An awesome player but for this type of tunage, I prefer Dimeola

Currently listening to his interview on the 'No Guitar is Safe' podcast. Amazing player, and seems like a pretty good guy, too!

I saw Frank with Berlin in 85 too. None of us had a clue who he was, but he blew us away! Incredible show. I think Steve Smith played drums if i recall?
