Gassing for a SG for some odd reason..

Always dug the way that guitar looks, no clue why I have never pulled the trigger on one, maybe when I played it awhile back I was underwhelmed by it. Guitar GAS has struck again though and this has caught my interest, any thoughts on it? If I have free time will stop into guitar center this weekend to test run a few.

I have been in your spot more than once. I owned 3 SG's. Each time always giving it the fair shake. Loved em....but dont like to play them. I had the Angus Signature(1st series)
A black Standard and a Red standard.
They just play 'different' and I always went back to the super strat.
Just my 2 cents.
But after seeing the Wizard video with Scott Ian playing Angus young rig....I been thinking of getting another one!

I bought one a month ago or so... And DAMN it was a good decision.

It is what it is... A straight shooter! What you see is what you get... Great sound, light weight, and pure rock!

Great tone, and once your used to it. It will be hard to go back to any other guitar.

I never really gave them a chance. They were SOOOO LIGHT! Felt funny to play. Neck felt good but little round for what I was used to.
I just went back to the old Faithful.
Had great tones though!!

Problem is after getting my Suhr Modern specced out the way I wanted, no other superstrat comes close for my wants now. Just trying to find some more variety now but very skeptical about being disappointed by getting anything else now, still want a LP for some reason too

Oddly enough I just myself a Les Paul Studio Lite from 92, and I am just in love with it.... But I am GAS'sin for a Suhr super strat style like a MOFO!!!

I'm sure any config you go with would come out great I went with a Modern Carve top with the thicker maple top and Mahogany Body/Neck and Pao Ferro board

i had an sg gothic that was badass. fastest neck made. just awesome-and cheap to. i'm gassing for one of those lowell sg's right now.

It's kind of crazy how close the price of a used SG standard is to a brand new one Used averages about $1k, new is $1200

I got an '09 Cherry Standard about 2 months ago and I haven't put it down since.Just a killer,killer guitar.

Always liked the SG. Many years ago I came across an SG Special. Had two volume knobs and one tone Knob (the only one like it I have seen in person). Also had a Kahler tremelo bridge. I liked the way it played, but the Kahler would not let it stay in tune. I wound up trading it for some auto mechanic work.

Several years ago, I got the gas and impulsively bought one of the faded specials. It was a lot lighter than my LP Classic, but I was underwhelmed by the bridge pickup (lknda weak). Also the neck was wider than the slim taper I was used to. It was like playing my old classical guitar. Wide and flat. I eventually replaced the bridge pickup with a noname 498t clone, and over the last few years it has really started to endear itself to me. Lately I have been called upon to do some hired gun stuff in a couple of original/cover type situations and it has really come through. It can rock, and can actually twang if need be. The light weight is a blessing for my aging frame, and the fret access is fabulous.

I bought an SG a couple off weeks ago after playing PRS and Les Paul some years now. I have owned many SG's and I'm glad I'm back. Of course the Paul sounds bigger and have more sustain, but the SG sounds clearer and has a stronger midrange and are more dynamic IMO. Great guitars. BTW I have gas for a super strat, Suhr or Anderson. It never ends

i bought mine after reading great reviews about them here and at TGP, and im glad i did cause the thing is as nice as any guitar i have ever played. the walnut is bright and vibrant and very punchy. heres some pics
