Anybody got one? I wanna try one out in my SG-X. Thus far I've had the factory Gibson 500T, Bill Lawrence XL500, Tom Anderson HN3+, and now a BK ceramic Warpig. The stock was blah. The Lawrence sounds thin and trebly... no guts or girth to it. The Warpig just doesn't match up well with it and it's too compressed... maybe even too hot. The HN3+ is quite good in it, but still doesn't feel like the right one.

I love everything Iommi plays, and his tone in recent cuts is killer. I think it will make my SG-X fun to play again. Right now it pales in comparison to my holy grail of a goldtop. :D

I have a couple. Great pickup. High output. Kind of dark. I heard that they go well with a 1 meg volume pot. I never tried it. I liked the sound of the 500k. Plus I'm too lazy to change out the pots.

What guitars are you using them in? I wired my SG-X to have a blower switch rather than coil tap, so that'll brighten it up good for leads. :)

2006 SG Standard

It's a fairly hot, but very dark pickup. I had them in the Iommi sig Epi SG. They look cool, but I don't ever see myself seeking them out to swap into anything. Plus I think they are expensive.

I've always wanted to try one of those. Though after reading that it's dark, I may no like it. I have 500t's in two of my guitars, a Super 57 in one and an EMG 81 in the last. I wish that I could combine the 500t and the 57. I've seen people make hybrid pickups before. I like the aggressiveness of the 500t but don't find the mids to pleasing sometimes, I love the 57 but it has to much top end for me. I run all of my guitars through a parametric EQ, though I change settings for different pickups, that might make them sound similar

I'm not sure how much I'll like it being a dark pup, either despite how much I love Iommi's tone. His tone probably won't be my tone. They're not terribly expensive when used, and I think it'll make my SG different enough from my LP that I'll cover more ground by having both. Plus something about having a 24-fret black SG makes me want it to sound like Iommi's.

I have one in the bridge of my MusicMan Silhouette Alder/Ash body, Maple neck, rosewood board and Gotoh Floyd. I guess I never really considered it dark but I generally run into a Pittbull 45 with the VHT P-50-E's and that amp is fairly bright. I love the Iommi, personally. I went from 20 years of EMG 81's and 85's to a Dimarzio Evolution to the Iommi and the Iommi is tops in my book. Great harmonics, sounds great coil-tapped, high output but still tight and very clear and defined. I'd buy more if they weren't close to $200. I happened into mine in a very lucky trade. The guy had steel-wool'd the shiny chrome off to make it look like brushed nickel. Looks/sounds great to me.

FWIW - I've not tried many other brands or models of pickups. I had a Schecter C-1 Elite with a JB/Jazz set in it. The JB is definitely high output and a little too muddy. The Jazz was great. I've got a Dimarzio's in my 80s Yamaha RGZ ( Fred and a Air Norton S ) I love. I have an Explorer with a SD Distortion, I think, that sounds great too tuned down to C standard. I'd love to try out some Bareknuckle's/Motor City's but they're too rich for my blood. I just keep hoping a $80 Squire fat strat will turn up loaded with 'some weird bear knuckle' pickups on Craigslist.
