As I’ve been working toward finalizing the Whiskey model tweaks using my new wire vendor, I revisited my old Morning Wood set that I never released. I couldn’t be happier with the versatility. Neck has no mud yet thick and musical under gain. The bridge is with just enough spank when clean but feel great under the finger with gain. A lot of PAF types can fell like they’re too low output for gain applications, but these seem to “play well with others”. I’ve tried these is 3 guitars with similar results. Here’s a quick wanking demo with. 10lb $300 Aria Pro II Les Paul played through a Bad Cat Cougar 50 through a G12-65 4x12. If there’s enough interest, I’d like to release a batch.

Been after a set of these to try in my goldtop standard since you posted the first demo video of the prototypes :)

I have only been able to play the Chubtone that I picked up with the Whiskey's in it once so far, but they sounded great! Will get some more time with it tonight.

Those pickups are pulling double duty.
They sound great with a clean amp, and fantastic, open, and clear, with gain.
You have perfectly reached the fine line between the two, because a tiny bit more/less in either direction, and it would not be as perfectly balanced and impressive, on one side or the other.

I take it these are waxed potted...no screaching or uncontrolled Feedback

Is this the same neck pickup as the ones you were previously selling?

Different. My previous one were poly wire. These are plain enamel. These are a little warmer/fuller, but still not muddy

Thanks really th while intent and the reason I haven’t pushed any PAF types bridge pickups ins the past. For a baseline I’ve been A/B ing them with my Navigator custom with Seth Lovers. The Seth neck is actually muddy in that guitar but the bridge is pretty good aside from microphonics. These have a little more bounce under the fingers and wool around single notes under gain, but clear when backed off.
